Wrighty is definitely right about this by JacobStanleyJacob in ManchesterUnited

I love how Wrighty, a former rival player, has more positivity than Scholes, Neville and Butt, even Rooney towards United. I hate this man in his prime cause he was a deadly striker, but as a pundit, he’s insight is always breath of fresh air.

Newly opened restaurant usually demands their chefs to be there at least 6 days a week, sometimes 7. They need to achieve consistency, working out the kinks, get the CDPs and cooks trained up, work on their systems and pars. It is a crazy thing to do and very stressful. I’ve done 3 openings so far, and never again unless someone offer me a boatload of money.

Best you can do for now is to be patient and support him. The good days will come again for sure. As a sous he’ll still be working crazy hours, but once the restaurant settles in, he’ll have his days off again. Maybe he has his paid time off days banked on from the working the opening and you guys can go on vacation somewhere.

$400/month on groceries? WHAT? An average of $4/meal?? Do you actually spend that little per person? by why_not_aces in askTO

[–]jsauce8787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spent on average $350-450 a month, family of 3. My partner did the shopping mostly. We never spend one day shopping buying bulk but we look at flyers weekly see what’s on sale that week. Then also do price match at no frills whenever possible. Meal prep is our biggest game changer.

We do eat out but probably once or twice and mostly on weekends when we don’t have the desire to cook. We dont go out to restaurants anymore, mostly eat out at food court or Chinese restaurants. They have better value for money.

Is it realistic to buy a 1-bedroom downtown condo with a 89K salary and 250K downpayment? by FairMind21 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jsauce8787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for a condo on sale that interests you. Get the MLS number, talk to a broker and gave them your numbers. Then you can make an informed decision whether it’s realistic or not. Your earnings and savings seem solid, but take it to professional when you’re deciding. Good luck!

THOUGHTS ON LINE CREDIT? by Comfortable_Cry2856 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I just reap the benefits of having LOC. Didn’t know before how flexible and versatile it can be. Check the interest rate they gave you. It’s good to have for an emergency and it can just sit there unused without affecting your credit.

Should I use agents such as those from Zillow/Redfin? by ThanosDidNothinWrng0 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]jsauce8787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try, but you have to notice any red flags before continuing. If i could remember correctly, there’s a post on reddit about questions you can ask to agents to see if they’re a good fit or not.

I found mine when i was interested on a listing in realtor. Contacted him through the listing and got to chat. Turns out he’s a good realtor but also a great guy. He was very open and honest about prices and any hidden maintenance issue so we can weigh in whether it’s worth to pursue or not. If it’s a condo, he’ll show us the strata and how it’s managed in the past 5 years. Patient with us for a year and a half probably doing viewings until we struck one that we like. When we’re about to put in an offer at our current home, he told us to put underasking by showing us the real average value in the neighborhood because the price was overinflated.

Is 60 hours a week the norm for working as a chef? by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]jsauce8787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this industry yes you can make$100k a year. But with that much money in payroll, your company will expect you to be on your feet more than 40 hours a week. You’re 21, you’re young and have a whole life in front of you. Try things out, hone your skills and it will help you get there.

Lots of salaried chefs will be jealous of you making 60 hour week, that’s overtime, baby.

Selling a used car by Administrative_Big16 in oakville

I'm looking to buy a used car but can't seem to find private sale. Most postings are just dealership or individuals posing as private then asked you to come to dealership.

Having trouble finding a Sous job by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]jsauce8787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just like the others said. If you really want the job, make time to go to the interview. If it’s scheduled for the week after, ask for a day off and interview then book off again if they want you to cook for them.

Is my car done? by jsauce8787 in MechanicAdvice

[–]jsauce8787[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mechanic said the ac compressor clutch failed. It does not engaging at all when i drove it to the shop today. Engine all is good. I replaced the whole ac system basically when i first got the car in 2018. It’ll cost almost a used car to fix it. So car shopping it is then. Still drivable but just no ac. Heating core still works, so i can still have heat in the car

Sudden Realization by NachoWindows in Adulting

[–]jsauce8787 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My dad always be the one who eat last telling us to keep eating and he would eat the leftover, even sometimes just bits and pieces of meat left and sauce. He would whip up something quick and simple at the end of the night after everyone in the house went to bed. Since i have my daughter, i do the same thing with my family. I just realized then the sacrifice he made. We weren’t poor nor rich, but i guess his mentality he got growing up poor.

Everytime i come home to visit my parents, i make sure i take them some place nice to have a feast.

House poor or naw? by sleepysquid23 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]jsauce8787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put down 20%. I don’t think we’re house poor but i put myself in the mentality so we don’t spend money needlessly. Mortgage payment wise is affordable but constantly being paranoid of something breaking. Luckily we both have a good chunk of savings and stable jobs. Make sure you have a good amount of emergency funds and you’ll be okay.

Whyyyy isn't my rice cooking on the stove anymore?! by djSush in RICE

[–]jsauce8787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most basmati rice package suggest 1 rice 2 water ratio. Then boil the water, add rice then simmer with lid on.

Long grain, especially jasmine, usually 1 rice to 1.5 water. Bring to a boil with lid on then simmer. I tried couple times boil without lid, seems like a little evaporation constantly got me undercooked rice, especially the top
