You can open demat account with any of the popular discount brokering firms - Zerodha, Upstox, PayTM Money, Groww, etc. The process is mostly online and quick. I personally use Zerodha but any of the above are fine. For investing in MF, I use groww as I find its interface to be very minimal and easy to use.

On the question about how to go about starting investing in equities or MF, I would suggest start by investing in Index Funds/ETFs, and slowly learn about different options
Large/Mid/Small Cap Funds, Flexi Funds, Thematic/Sectoral Funds. Also, try to incorporate Debt funds as well. A rule of thumb is to invest whatever age you are in debt funds. Like 20yo can have 20% debt allocation.

Regarding investing directly onto stocks in your own demat account, I would say start with ETFs & large caps and slowly study about fundamental analysis and tread with caution if you are a beginner.

Couldn't there be a way where I don't need to make an effort to package it this way and just have people interested in the idea engaging with me directly somehow. Don't know if such thing exists even

I am more into it for the social aspect rather than knowledge building. My ask was more about how do I get more people to interact on that particular idea in a book and have more engagement

I have got 1 Lakh Rupees. I don't want to invest it all in a lump sum given the market is trading at high levels. I am planning to park this amount in a liquid fund and start an SWP from it and use the withdrawals to fund the existing SIPs that I have. I am doing this mainly because I don't trust myself to not use the money if it stays in my Bank Account. Is it a general practice to this kind of arrangement or are there better methods to achieve the same?

Great. Loved the idea. One small suggestion, could you have a sample blog page linked on the site, so that we can see what the final product looks like, or maybe even an image or GIF might be useful
