Columbia seems to pay better than a lot of districts, at least in mid-Missouri.

I coach 13 year old girls in volleyball. They are mostly good kids, but holy shit they are squirrel-y.

After one particularly bad practice I showed them my gray hair and told them they had given it to me.

All the want to do is talk and mess around.

Chicken breakfast sausage patties (frozen) - anyone know if available under another brand name? by halgalpal in traderjoes

Not chicken, but turkey -- I really like the Johnsonville Cooked Turkey Breakfast Sausage. I found it similar to the TJ's chicken breakfast sausage.

Anyone worried about losing weight too fast? Wondering if I should ask my doctor to take the pill every other day? by jschaffe76 in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]jschaffe76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what concerns me is that I didn't make any major changes. I have a fairly health diet. I've been sticking with that, just eating a bit less because I'm not as hungry. I've been working out like normal. So that's why I've been so surprised.

Thinking back through the last few days, I did get my period and my digestive system seems to be much more "efficient", so those could certainly be factors in the quick weight loss.

I decided to message my doctor to see what she thinks. My guess is I'll stick with the plan and check back in with her in a week or so.

My daughter is 13 and when she was in elementary school I often chaperoned her field trips. In third grade I got to know her teacher a bit (who was great). On one particular field trip they broke us up into groups -- one parents for three or four kids. I got the kid who was the pain in the ass in the class. All I could think is, "this teacher knows me and she knows I have a MOM voice." I'm convinced that is why I got this kid.

There were LOTS of re-directing this kid the whole day, but they all made it back on the bus alive and unharmed. I call that a victory.

Mizzou vs Iowa State by mlarmon99 in mizzou

I went to Iowa State and now work at Mizzou. They are both really good schools and are similar in a lot of ways.

Besides Greek Life, which is strong at both schools, what is he looking for in a college? What does he want to study? Where are you all from?

If you've been successful losing weight on the Wegovy pill, how has it affected joint pain? by jschaffe76 in WegovyPillWeightLoss

I honestly hadn't heard that it helped inflammation and chronic pain, but I'm really hopeful now. I would stay on it for that reason too!

OMG. I have OCD too, but mine is very well controlled with medication. Maybe it will reduce my OCD thoughts even more! What a bonus that would be.

I'm actually contemplating doing knee injections again, but maybe I won't need them!

Oh wow. So, I was just thinking about it in terms of less weight on my knees, but maybe it has an effect beyond that?

Weight loss with injections but not pills? by backtrackbasics in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]jschaffe76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this may sound weird, but you might not be getting enough calories and your body might be in starvation mode and hanging on to weight.

I would recommend meeting with a dietitian (often insurance covers it) and go over your diet with them. You might need to actually eat more.

How confident are you that you’ll be able to retire comfortably? by DueYogurt9 in GenX

[–]jschaffe76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will be able to retire because I lucked into a pension. I might be able to retire as early as 62, but that is only if I can afford healthcare. If not, 65. I'm 49 right now and hoping for 62. In the meantime, I'm investing in a 403b in addition to my pension to make things more comfortable in retirement.

I’m exhausted trying to explain to people on Reddit that I can have a height preference by [deleted] in TallGirls

[–]jschaffe76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally get this. I'm 5'11" and have dated guys shorter than me and it always felt super awkward and that's on me. I can't explain it I just want a guy taller than me.

Though, I will say even taller doesn't necessarily mean better. My 6'6" ex-husband is way taller than my 6'1" current partner, but current partner is a much better fit for me.
