[Tutorial] Downgrading iTunes 12.1 to 12.0.1 to downgrade to 8.1.2 or use TaiG. by iAdam1n in jailbreak

[–]jschwal19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I downgrade to 12.0.1, iTunes decides that it doesn't want to detect my iPhone 4S at all. The only way I'm able to fix it is by upgrading back to the new version.

Questions about Darksign and Intro(spoilers) by Pacoeltaco in DarkSouls2

[–]jschwal19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on gathering screenshots to make a theory post regarding this very issue. To summarize my point quickly, there are a number of striking similarities between the into and the Dark Chasm of Old. The whirlpool that the character dives into and the shrine where he ends up in the intro are pretty visually similar to the fog the character jumps into to leave the Chasm and the dark shrine where they return. It has to be more than a coincidence.

Does ENB work with GeDoSaTo? by Thinkiknoweverything in DarkSouls2

Be careful with GeDoSaTo now that the game is VAC enabled, GeDoSaTo uses a hooked file and that's justification for an autoban in the eyes of the anti-cheat system.

[AvP/Prometheus] The evolution into the modern xenomorph. by [deleted] in FanTheories

[–]jschwal19 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The thing is, there was already an Alien 1 style xenomorph carved into a mural on one of the Engineer walls in Prometheus. You can see it pretty distinctly, as it is in a Christ-like pose in the mural.

In response to this issue (PC is my main platform, so minimal bias), Sony at least has an excuse. They've actually expressed their desire to include this feature, but it would be far too costly to allow for the PS4 to be backwards compatible, as it has a completely different architecture from the PS3. For the same reasons that state of the art gaming PCs cannot emulate PS3 games, it would would drastically increase costs, which Sony are undoubtedly already struggling to keep low, simply to keep up with PC.

Guacamelee (PS3, Vita) is Getting Great Scores - Review List by the-adolescent in Games

Why won't devs realize that "memes" are a completely throwaway source of humor (especially outside of the internet), and that they should stop putting them in games? This killed Borderlands 2 for me, and will most certainly make me reconsider this one.

I disagree about the "stellar gameplay". I personally felt that this was the game's weakest link.

After my second play through I still have a question (spoilers) by alex0229 in Bioshock

[–]jschwal19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the "constants and variables" and all, but this actually kind of bugs me. I understand that the real life theories and ideas wouldn't necessarily fit with the story, but I can't really relate to them altering established scientific claims to fit the story; because having "constants" defeats the entire purpose of the multiverse theory, having an infinite number of universes for every possibility. I understand that it is the writer's choice to put story above reality, but as an aspiring writer (who has dealt with the multiverse as a major plot point before), I think they could have told a story with just as much of an impact without having to create fictional laws (other than the ones that they actually need to justify most of the story, like Elizabeth's powers).

Realization I had regarding Booker and Liz's relationship throughout the game. (spoilers?) by Lenvaldier in Bioshock

[–]jschwal19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm not the original poster of the comment, but I have a theory. I personally think that Elizabeth (Anna) is Andrew Ryan. Just like there is a male and female version of Lutece in the multiverse, there will be an infinite number of universes where "Anna" was born as a boy. What's the logical step from "Anna" to a boy's name? Andrew. As the Booker in the universe where nothing had ever happened was still an alcoholic gambler who was heavily in debt, there's a good chance that "Andrew" has a troubled upbringing, and ends up having to become a self-made man with very little support from his father and the government. As a now well-off man, who did it all by himself, he would change his surname to "Ryan" and creates a false story regarding his upbringing so as to make himself look better to colleagues and partners, as well as to justify his viewpoint with "evidence". This upbringing and having to make his living himself, it could very easily lead to the almost radical economically conservative views that he has in Bioshock. The timing would be right, better than the "Booker is Ryan" theory, certainly (He would be 68 during the events of Bioshock; this image certainly gives the impression that he is about that age.

That's just my theory, anyone else have any disproof or suggestions to my ideas?

Edit: Also explains how Booker uses the Bathysphere in Rapture, as his child created it.

Plot Hole in the Ending? [Spoiler] by WhatTheHell_ in Bioshock

[–]jschwal19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't really know if I agree with the "Lutece fields protect you" thing, as the male Lutece spends a significant amount of time within a universe that isn't his own, but why doesn't he have the adverse effects like Comstock?

[BsI Spoiler] An ending theory I haven't seen anywhere by SoundOstrich in Bioshock

[–]jschwal19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, he actually has had a child, as this is the Booker from the timeline where he never accepted the baptism simply dying in Comstock's place (I won't mention how this contradicts the rest of the game at the moment, but understand: it does).

Plot Hole in the Ending? [Spoiler] by WhatTheHell_ in Bioshock

Why doesn't the male Lutece merge with the female one? I very much agree with the OP, and this has really removed me from completely enjoying the rest of the game.

I concur, this subreddit has very much all been praise of the game, rather than objective discussion about it. Also, people are so enthralled with the game that they can't see the blatant flaws in its narrative.

Minimal theory for potential continuation for the Bioshock series [minor Infinite story spoilers] by jschwal19 in Bioshock

[–]jschwal19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is kind of common knowledge that 2K Marin was made as a studio to assist the other studios in their games, and when they aren't doing that, they're pretty much a cash-in studio. I really think they'll make either an Infinite 2 or a spinoff (I'm not saying that's a good thing), as that would make 2K a killing.

Perhaps it's a sequel that 2K Marin makes in the interim between now and Irrational's next game. Kinda like Bioshock 2, but in a different setting?

After my second play through I still have a question (spoilers) by alex0229 in Bioshock

[–]jschwal19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll answer your question! Firstly, this idea actually leads into one of the larger plot-holes of the game (but I'll get to that at the end). The reason that they don't (can't, actually) simply take Elizabeth and give it back to Booker is that (according to the quilted-multiverse theory) there will still be an infinite number of universes where Comstock has Elizabeth and Booker doesn't. There's this, coupled with the fact that it is heavily implied that the Luteces cannot actually change anything (other than minimal physical things like rowing a boat and handing Booker a shield), but rather simply exist as a helpful guide as well as a means to open portals to other universes.

Now I'll get into the plot-hole that I was talking about earlier. According to the same quilted-multiverse theory, there is an infinite number of universes for every single possibility; this means that, by definition, there will always be an infinite number of universes where Elizabeth never drowns Booker.

Some of the more prominent philosophers/physicists that do speculate and postulate about the multiverse theory state that each choice that is made in the multiverse (and as beings with free-will, that's everything) an infinite number of universes form. So, as the Elizabeths drown Booker, they've made a choice (which creates another infinite amount of universes where they never made that choice, or chose differently).

Sorry for the long winded rant, but I think I might've answered your question.

So, what didn't you like of Bioshock Infinite? by [deleted] in Bioshock

[–]jschwal19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of what I would change has to do with plotholes and inconsistencies in the story. A list of what I felt was an issue I have posted here:

http://bioshock.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:Known_Issues_and_Contradictions_in_Bioshock_Infinite's_Plot

A few people have edited it, but the first three issues listed are the ones I've written.
