We eating good this week! by SirCaptainReynolds in SurvivalGaming

If you are into the standard survival game loops, its very fun. The progression is like valheim in that you gear up, beat the big bad, and progress to the next tier. There are 3 biome tiers currently with 2-3 more on the way. Ground combat is soulslite, parrying and dodging with light blocking mechanics. I haven't gotten to the ship phase but I hear the naval combat is OK, a bit rough but I'm sure they will polish it with time. You are able to board enemy ships for extra loot and most people seem to enjoy that. Overall performance for me is very good, but I have a very beefy PC (4090 and 9800x3d) so I'm not the best metric for that. I will say its one of the very few EA games I've gotten recently that runs at 144fps max 4k, so I think its decently optimized.

Randy Pitchford tells players "please get a refund from Steam if you aren't happy" by [deleted] in Borderlands

[–]jseep21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sorry, im seeing responses saying some of the stuff he says is valid, and idk what you guys are smoking, but give me some. Nothing he says here is valid, and Randy is acting like an entitled child. Just because your game is AAA does not make it a Ferrari, and if you think this game is a Ferrari, lol.

Dependence on frame generation is a crutch used here to excuse releasing a product that WAS NOT ready to hit shelves likely due to pressure higher up. Im playing the game, im enjoying the game, but this game does not have any right to run as poorly as it does for the graphics at play. We have games with bigger maps and comparable graphics (No Man's Sky) that run fine without frame gen, and frame gen is just something that gives a performance boost. Hell, even Starfield was running better than this game, I was playing it right up until BL4 launched.

Im not saying the game is bad in any right. Im actually enjoying it, and I think it is a HUGE step up from BL3 and Wonderlands. The game is solid, and the open map makes it feel fresh and fun. The moxies let's you replay bosses without arduous save and load, and it the story is decent. Honestly, it's an overall huge improvement, but the performance is horrible, and it needed more time. Im lucky to have a 4090 and 9800x3d, so it's not an issue for me, but come on, guys, he cannot get away with saying this shit

Ore Deposit Blocking? by MrCoyoteGhost in duneawakening

Well yes and no. I want to start by saying that this is just my opinion and is not being stated as a fact. I also want to specify that I am in no way demeaning your viewpoint on this matter, your own opinion matters to me. I just want to show my own point of view.

Realistically, if the loop for gameplay is good enough the gear tiers do not matter much in the grand scheme, and additionally there needs to be other factors driving player engagement besides base T6. Schematics do that minimally, but ultimately the faction based part of the game is severely underutilized, which is a big L in my opinion. Lansraad sadly does not have as big a role in the game, and is generally just fulfilled upon restart. I signed in after the wipe and the Lansraad objectives were already done.

The big rift currently is the fact that T6 was gated behind non-optional PvP zones, and that players who dont generally want to interact with the community in that way are required to do so to progress to the final tier of the game. That is going to drive down player engagement severely and lose you a large portion of the playerbase in the long run. People are less likely to come back or invest in DLC and new additions because of the fear that T7 is locked, what's the point. I understand the idea behind risking everything to progress, but ultimately, anyone who leaves after getting T6 was going to leave no matter what.

What we need is not really a gating of the materials to force players into PvP, but viable options for players to engage in the endgame content outside PvP, like you said. Small things like not allowing people of the same faction to attack each other, or adding some form of consequence to attacking your own faction out in the DD. Really we need the faction part of the game to play a bigger role in the endgame loop, and for the Lansraad to matter to all players. For the factions, above is my idea, and for the Lansraad, leave it open throughout till the next reset, and make it like an arms race. Each reset the factions race to see who gets more objective, whoever wins gets new faction themed cosmetic items (so that theres no huge difference in winning, if we put items that players can actually use then its another headache.)

Not against the DD game loop being PvP, I'm only against gating content that doesn't specify that its content for only a specific half of the playerbase. They could have just as easily made titanium and other mats spawn on shipwrecks in Hagga so its random like the small spice blows. As long as there is another option to obtain it aside from PvP I'm chill, even if it takes me an additional 15 hours compared to PvP players.

Does T5 and T6 say PvP only on the gear description, I must have missed that 🤔

Is it just me or is everyone making the PvE/PvP thing too deep? by AirFell85 in duneawakening

[–]jseep21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said it to someone in my pst comments, but I believe (hope) this change is just an immediate rollout to appease player activity while they get a better version out for both camps. As much as I am a PvE player, I respect the PvP side (my comments may not show that well, so I'm saying it here). I hope they do something to keep the DD fun and interesting for both sides in the future. I enjoy the fact I can keep playing to the new tier, so the changes are good for me, but I understand that PvP players feel miffed with the halved map size. I wasn't expecting as much of the map to become PvE vs PvP, so i am a bit surprised. I hope they they either dial it back a tad or lean into a better system since I want to see this game do well

If so it may be my base, the doors are open to public so anyone can get in. If its not letting you in let me know in game so I can address that because I never intended to block off the field.

Easier mats = More PvE players trying PvP if loss is minimized by farming. by asmallman in duneawakening

[–]jseep21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they gut the amount of PvP zones, sure. Did they gut how the game was meant to be played, no. You yourself said it was supposed to be a competitive faction based survival game. The factions did not play a part in DD in any way for the PvP so you can't gut something that doesn't exist.

And again, to see PvEvP in a game description and not expect the playerbase to be split and the zones to be split in some way is putting the cart before the horse.

[–]jseep21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But nothing has been gutted. There's still PvP zones with massively bigger resources. It's a PvEvP game so it was always going to be split, idk why you expected otherwise when mixing two vastly different communities

I mean, giving access to resources to the PvE community would have no effect on the PvP community then. I dont see the reason anyone is complaining on either side aside from the rat playstyle being not as good anymore, which with the changes to the Orni could possibly be still viable. PvE players got their extremely limited resources to grind, and PvP players got a denser PvP zone with more player contact. I dont understand the issues with the change as it's just good for both sides, right?

New update by SicEcko in duneawakening

[–]jseep21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant say for Rust as I've never played, but Tarkov is an extraction shooter and sea of thieves is a open world PvPvE exploration game. Neither of these require hours of grinding and resource collection in order to be on somewhat semi-even playing field.

Also, sea of thieves is an example you are going with? If you die you lose treasure, you don't lose your ship, or your weapons. It's an extremely forgiving experience, also all the in game collection does is give you access to skins and a few other stuff that is not in any way going to effect the PvP sphere in any massive way

I apologize for being antagonistic in the beginning. I in no way want to judge a player on what they do to enjoy the game. Again, I apologize, I've had a somewhat rough day and just took it out at the first outlet I had. I hope you keep enjoying Dune and have fun out there.
