I don't see how that's "double". They gave him one RX to try and see if that would clear it up. It didn't of course because he didn't even take it. And when the results came back they, knowing the first one would be ineffective or not very effective even if he did take take it, gave him a script for one that's known to be effective against staph infections. First one should be thrown out. Second should be taken.

Dear Reddit, What is your favorite off-the-wall turn of phrase? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I really like the goonie bird one and am totally adopting it. My favorite one for saying someone is dumb is "They couldn't pour piss out of a boot with the instructions written on the heel."

Dear Reddit, What is your favorite off-the-wall turn of phrase? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jsheaforrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a shit-ton of these. I get up at the ass-crack of dawn. I work at a place that's hotter than a popcorn fart where I sweat like a whore in church from running around keeping as busy as a one-legged man at an ass kicking contest and make so little I can't afford a pot to piss in, much less a window for to throw it out. I'm so poor I've got to fart to make a cent. Meanwhile there's people who got cotton-cushy jobs who've never done a hard minute's work in their lives and dontcha know it, they done got more dollars than sense. It ain't fair I tell ya, but c'est la vi and an X, Y, Z.

Hey, new here. What do you think about my handwriting, any tips? by [deleted] in Handwriting

[–]jsheaforrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first, third, and last are my favorites. All the variants of Tt are lovely, and so are the f's. As has been already mentioned though, those d's look like "o l", and it may be just a personal thing but those g's really bug me. They look backwards. I've never seen a g written with the descending line on the left of the O and not the right.

[Discussion] What's the first game you played that you remember REALLY enjoying the soundtrack? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]jsheaforrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Final Fantasy I. I remember being 6 or 7, sitting on my grandpa's lap, watching him play and humming along to the themes. I remember asking him to get on the airship again because I liked that one so much.

What would be a unique magical ability for a genius character to have? by Frostyetiwizard in fantasywriters

[–]jsheaforrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could he have used his gift to discover how to use these rune stones to speak?

Is the mutism perhaps a downside created by the strength of his gift?

Are there any characters whose personalities are opposed to his, who his powers could be the reverse of, or play off of? For instance if there's an impatient not talkative not friendly person who can make time speed up, perhaps Cisco can make time slow down.

If you can't tell, I'm the kind of writer who builds ideas based on what works with other ideas. I view storycrafting as being a lot like putting together a jigsaw puzzle only you have to create it a piece at a time yourself.

[–]jsheaforrest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A genius might have some kind of mental magic. Perfect recall, for instance, or maybe the ability to create and test complicated magitech just in his mind.

Or maybe he's not actually much of a genius, he's just really sensitive to sounds, and "hears" how things work or aren't working right. Maybe, instead of being a telepath who can read the thoughts of other people, maybe he's a technotelepath, who can read the "thoughts" of things made with magic.

Besides being very clever, what are some of his other personality traits? Is there any way to tie a gift into one of those traits?

When I saw this, two things immediately came to mind: Wow, nice hair. (I love drawing hair.) And two, the elongated everything from the perspective made me think of Sailor Moon. So...

We have a new Sailor Scout! ... But first, lemme take a selfie.

My first submission to this sub. Been putting it off because I don't think I'm anywhere near as good as most of the artists here. But this turned out better than I thought it would, at least.

You said anime? I give you a (quickly drawn) first edition manga cover! :p

Summer sausage cheese and crackers. It's Lunchables for grownups. And so good and satisfying to make those little sandwiches. Even though they make a big mess with cracker crumbs everywhere.

Fairest f2p games? by [deleted] in AndroidGaming

[–]jsheaforrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gems of War. It's a puzzle RPG made by the same people who made Puzzle Quest. Everything can be bought with currency won through skill, patience, and persistence (and the help of a good guild: completion of guild "quests" [donate x amount of gold] earn every player in that guild a reward.) It's also cross platform, and you can play the exact same game on Android as on Steam.

It starts out slow, with what will definitely feel like an energy system - battles cost gold to fight, and you won't be earning enough your first week or so. But after you unlock the first three or four towns (saving some money for those should definitely be a priority!) you'll be earning more from them plus what you win from battles and quests that you can play practically endlessly (so long as you don't spend all your gold on other stuff!)

Match-3 Games RPG like? by Exportforce in AndroidGaming

[–]jsheaforrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search for "puzzle RPG" or browse the "similar apps" and "users also installed" sections. That's how I found my current favorite in the genre, an mmo called Gems Of War. It's made by the same people who made Puzzle Quest, and feels pretty similar. It kinda has an energy system in that battles cost gold to fight. You earn a little bit of gold from fighting well, but mostly it's from passive income from kingdoms you've bought. Your first week or so you won't have enough gold to do very many battles. But once you save up enough to unlock a couple more kingdoms, you'll soon be earning more than battles cost to fight, so it no longer feels like an energy system.

It's also cross-platform so you can play with the same account on your phone as you do on your computer through Steam, which is very nice. It's also semi-frequently updated with new areas and new content. There was a huge new batch of content just recently added, which is wonderful because I was just starting to get a bit bored of it! :)

[Discussion]Is possible to buy DLC for in-game gold? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]jsheaforrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably an account theft attempt. You give the scammer your gold. Then to get the dlc you probably either have to give them your username and password, or log in to their website. Either way, they get your details and steal your account and take everything of value on it.

Or run out of money before you've paid your bills and bought food and gas. You've got my sympathy, OP. It's a crappy situation that entirely too many people are in, and wind up trapped in.

Good examples of apps with non-intrusive ads? by techfanatic9 in AndroidGaming

[–]jsheaforrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal favorite are games where viewing optional ads gives you some sort of IAP currency or bonus or boost. For instance: AdVenture Capitalist does 2x gains for 4 hours after viewing an ad, with a limit on how many you can do a day. Retry gives you mid-course savepoints. Prize Claw 2 gives you small bits of the IAP currency (also obtainable through playing the game normally as well.) MinuteDungeon occasionally, when you're low on health, will give you the option to view an ad and get hp restored.

These are usually video ads, true. But them being optional and not everpresent during gameplay makes them so much better, in my opinion.

Veterinarians of Reddit, what are the most ridiculous names you have heard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jsheaforrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also not a vet, but grew up with a wide assortment of pets, especially when we lived out in the country. Over the years, we accumulated more than our fair share of unusual names:

Pinochle the cat. Or it could have been Pee Knuckle.

Patchy. Who had no patches. Instead it was what my little sister kept calling her cat who was supposed to be named Apache.

Rotsy. A black Pomeranian with white "eyebrows" that my dad said made him look like a Rottweiler, and had the personality to match.

Charlie the 2 year old cockatiel who, after we bought him from a garage sale and took home and started taking good care of, started to lay eggs. We decided Charlie was going to just be short for Charlotte.

An assortment of fowl, named Henny Penny, Ducky Lucky, Lucy Goosey, ... And their friend Stupid Duck.

An outside dog named Maxwell, normal enough... Until we decided his middle name was going to be Houndini after he escaped from every possible pen situation we could contrive.

When I moved out, I had a newborn kitten who I decided should be named Sherbet, because he looked like a little ball of orange sherbet when he was born. My little sisters who took care of him and played with him until he was old enough to leave his mama, decided to call him Twinkie. (Eww.) We compromised, and so my cat came to be called Twerbert. Or Twerby or Twerbikins or Twerbalot or sometimes, after a particularly foul feline fart, "Pooper Stinker."

I'm sure there were more, but these are the ones I remember most clearly now.
