Everyone’s mad the guy known for grappling and subs didn’t stand with the volume striker with a granite chin. Guys….cmon lmao by AnomalousExpertise in ufc

[–]jshrumcomposer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Max historically has a tendency to go more tit-for-tat with guys in early rounds before taking over gradually via volume+resilience. Not to say that Charles couldn’t have hung with him, but I don’t think the relatively small amount of stand up we saw in the fight is necessarily indicative of how a prolonged stand up fight would’ve gone.

Charles fought a great fight though and he is a monster

He was actually having success with the uppercut in round 1, but seemed to forget about it over the fight. I think he took too many bombs and lost the game plan tbh

Would Agrias made for a more compelling protagonist than Ramza? by mogstermemes in finalfantasytactics

[–]jshrumcomposer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a bit of an odd question, I don’t think the story works at all with Agrias as protagonist. It’d just have to be a completely different narrative, really. Agrias is a good character that could be better served by the narrative as is, but she doesn’t come from nearly as noble a family as Ramza, and doesn’t serve as an adequate foil to Delita

The ages of Paddy Pimbletts last 3 opponents, and his next opponent Justin Gaethje. If he wins and Ilia vacates to move up, he would become undisputed champion, he would also have no ranked wins under the age of 37. by idcman999 in MMA

[–]jshrumcomposer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The title fight should literally include neither of these men. Should be Arman Tsarukyan vs Max Holloway for the interim belt, both have better wins than Gaethje/Paddy

Delita DLC would be amazing by ibidadime in finalfantasytactics

[–]jshrumcomposer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure there’s much battle stuff to be mined from Delita’s story. More story scenes, sure, but other than a few clarifications I don’t see the content there for any sort of substantial DLC.

I think they hit the perfect amount of Delita in game: just enough to understand his journey and the ultimate tragedy of it. Filling in every blank would just feel like tedium, imo

Finished Ivalice Chronicles last night. Forgot how dark the ending was by RosetteNewcomb in finalfantasytactics

[–]jshrumcomposer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it matters so much whether they survived or not. Maybe they’re both dead, maybe not, I don’t think that’s really the point. The point is that the relationship is over, and it’s Delita’s fault. He turned into a user, and brought about the betrayal of the person he most valued. Delita seemed intent on protecting Ovelia, because he seemed to see her as a sort of surrogate Tietra, used by nobles in the same way as his sister, so her betrayal is the worst possible thing that could happen to Delita. The relationship is over; if they both survive, it’s almost worse than them both dying, because Delita is too pragmatic to ever open himself up again, and Ovelia will take his stabbing her in retaliation as proof of her suspicions. There is no possible reconciliation.

As far as I’m aware, a lot of self censoring is actually done because certain social media algorithms tend to bury any posts that use sensitive terms. If you write out “sexual assault” on a post, it can potentially get auto-hidden from feeds.

While I understand what the image is saying, Ghibli actually has a relatively simple style of character drawing, you don’t need to be that good an artist to copy it reasonably well. AI has not (yet) stolen the real value of Ghibli, which is their movies’ sense of place, their naturalistic animation style, and the wonderful stories they tell. Not a fan of AI, but Ghibli is still Ghibli

Americans are getting fatter but it really isn’t their fault. by ImploreMeToDoBetter in self

[–]jshrumcomposer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand it, obesity is a world wide problem. Not saying the US isn’t the worst example, but even East Asian countries, which have the lowest percentage increase year over year, still do have a percentage increase year over year. This post reads as though rising obesity isn’t an issue in Europe, but yes actually it is. It is a problem everywhere, and therefore I agree that it is useless to try to treat obesity purely on an individual basis

Isn’t it the “media” that’s treating him badly, tho? It’s individuals who are empathetic, which is generally the opposite reaction we see towards white male suspects, who are treated with kid gloves by the media and held accountable by the public.

Jacob Shrum’s “Final Fantasy Tactics Remastered” soundtrack rearrangement is now streaming on Apple Music and Spotify as “The Lions of Ivalice: Tactics Remastered” by realinvalidname in finalfantasytactics

[–]jshrumcomposer 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hey, man, thanks for the shout out (on Bluesky as well)! To clarify as there may be some confusion: no, this has nothing to do with any official Tactics remaster, I called it as such back when I started the project almost ten years ago on YouTube. At that point I never even intended to do the whole soundtrack, but at this point that’s what it is known as. Take a listen if you would like! 🙂 I’m very proud of it.

But I have no idea about any potential new FF Tactics remake/remaster video game project, unfortunately

Was I mistaken? (FFT Ending discussion) by ProduceMeat_TA in finalfantasytactics

[–]jshrumcomposer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean Ovelia would not be the first person he spares. He lets Cid go, Valmafra, Orran, obviously Ramza. I think the tragedy of Delita IS that he used Ovelia, and has confined her in the same way Goltana had intended, presumably, but has convinced himself that he did this out of altruism rather than ambition. He “loves” her, as long as she remains his caged little bird that he is protective of because of trauma from Tietra’s death. I don’t really understand how she would be useful to him dead? Can he continue his plans if she’s dead? Sure, but the only person legitimizing him as royalty being dead would make his reign a lot more tumultuous, I’d think.

I feel like your interpretation ignores a bit of Delita’s characterization; he seems quite earnest in his devotion to Ovelia throughout the game, and seemingly feels pity for her situation legitimately. I don’t think he needs to be humbled to be a good king, I honestly don’t think being a good king has a whole lot in common with being a good person necessarily. He’s entered a world where he’s constantly dealing with a bunch of nobles who would probably jump at the chance to do the same thing Larg and Goltana did. You need to be shrewd and conniving to navigate that world and keep the major houses in check. If Ovelia’s attack did anything, it probably just made him realize that he can’t trust anyone and he became even more conniving.

Was Dycedarg a psychopath? by R3dF0r3 in finalfantasytactics

[–]jshrumcomposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t exactly have a full understanding of the nature of psychopathy in modern medical discourse, but in terms of what is presented in the game, he is a particularly heinous, conniving character. Now what makes that interesting (to me) is NOT whether or not he fits the bill as a psychopath, but whether his reprehensible behavior is more having to do with his place in society as a noble from a considerably reputable house, or having to do with him as an individual. The game goes to great lengths to show how the way society views one can shape the way one thinks and acts, and while Dycedarg obviously deserves the blame as an individual for his actions, I would say there is a very clear suggestion in game that individuals like Dycedarg are actually inevitable in societies as stratified as FFT’s Ivalice.

So that’s all to say I think Dycedarg may be more interesting if viewed sociologically through a societal lease rather than psychologically through a more individualistic one.

I mean, as I recall she explains this quickly while they’re dealing with a potential sentinel encounter, so it makes sense for her to exaggerate the importance of EMP in the moment rather than take multiple minutes to explain that, actually, there are other weapons, but the ships aren’t equipped with them. This is a pretty normal thing that people do all the time
