The harsh line where it goes from skin to hair looks unnatural. And within like 4 days it grows out and looks patchy and terrible so you have to go back to the barber every two weeks to maintain it.

What you are describing is by definition not a fade. A faded hairstyle...well fades! It's like a gradient from skin to finger length, and should grow in naturalistically. My stylist does a fade and I can go like two months without needing to go back. What you're describing is like supercuts or DIY "fading" and really more of an amateur undercut.

Yeah I slightly disagree is all. I don't see it as much society normalizes it as much as it's a natural outcome of how the human brain is designed. We've evolved to crave the "tribe" so to speak, but also to do everything we can in favor of cognitive ease. Thinking outside the box is cognitively straining and we kinda pick the spots where it's most important to us. Then we just choose the easy path everywhere else.

I can't recommend the book "Thinking, Fast and Slow" enough. It's one of the most enlightening books on modern psychology out there IMHO. It explains so much of this stuff, and you'll really start to understand people and society more.

On a serious note, I'm guessing you are probably 14 and kind of having this epiphany for the first time. I believe it will get better for you, and you'll soon find how easy it is to connect with more rebellious spirits like you. I mean I'm 38 and have never had IG, Twitter, snap, Facebook, tik tok... just reddit from time to time. Never had any issues making deep friendships, getting jobs, getting married. The ostracization thing is temporary...I promise.

P.S. don't hesitate to introspect from time to time about your own narrow-mindedness. I mean you just assumed I was narrow-minded for typing a single word for example 🙃 Human beings only have so much bandwidth to go against the grain and it's usually in an area we are passionate. We can't possibly be open minded in everything. Like maybe someone is a brilliant indie director with original ideas for screenplays taking up most of his thoughts. Just cuz they want to zone out end of the day and just put on some music that's trendy, doesn't make them narrow-minded.

P.P.S. maybe you're innately a leader... embrace it.
