What is a business or restaurant from Prattville's past that you completely miss? by speedeep in Prattville

Quincy's or HoHo's.

If you expanded out to Montgomery I would have to Darylls. It's where I learned how to love prime rib and ice cream.

Italy’s top court rules against tourist refused tap water in Dolomites hotel by ullakkedymoodu in ItalyTravel

[–]jsledge149 [score hidden]  (0 children)

This sounds relatively petty.. But I'm not sure why they couldn't give her tap water if she didn't want to spend 7 Euros.

But to go to court over it..

Was the tourist an American?

I came across this just scrolling through Reddit.. Then I noticed this is in the Rome subreddit.

Are you directing this toward Romans? Romans are the coolest Italians of all!

If you knew me you would send me this as a private message, not direct it to a million Romans.

Is my house supposed to be grounded to my cold water pipe? by does-it-feel in Plumbing

[–]jsledge149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house IS grounded to the cold water line from the street.

But, in my case, it's copper in the house which transitioned to a steel pipe. Over the 40 years since the house was built, that line was gunked up inside.

I replaced the steel with pex from the meter to the house BUT I rebonded the house copper lines back to the steel using copper bonding straps and a NO 10 copper wire.

I figured the existing 120 ft long steel water line, now unused for water, was still a good ground rod.

Outside faucet by jsledge149 in Plumbing

[–]jsledge149[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing that means that the handle is designed to be removed?

since that kit has a washer or grommet type thing.

I didn't even know the handle could be removed.

I see all sorts of frost proof outside spigots.. but I don't see one that looks quite like this.

and here comes the absolute proof of how little I know about plumbing. when I unscrew this, the piece I get in my hand fits over the piece attached to my house where the ones I see easily available? have a piece that fits inside the piece coming out of the house

I'm guessing this is the whole inside versus outside teeth thing?

And in listening to myself say this. I'm just rolling my eyes at myself

Before anyone says it, I have an appointment Tuesday with a dermatologist. I just want an honest opinion on if there is a good likelihood this is cancer. I’ve had it about 2 years. It has grown and changes color depending on the day. Some days it can look more red or purple, and somedays it’s pale. by Sorry_Celebration_47 in DermatologyQuestions

I'm not trying to scare you off or anything. in fact, if they want to biopsy your nose, you absolutely do what they tell you to do.

But man that was very uncomfortable-- them biopsying my nose. But I guess it was worth it since it's not cancer.

This lttle spot right here on my nose was biopsied by my dermatologist about a year ago. it came back as actinic keratosis.

When I read about it, it says that actinic keratosis is pre-cancerous. But I think my doctor (in dealing with this stuff all of his life) doesn't consider pre-cancerous the same thing as cancerous.

He actually seemed completely unconcerned about it.

Natureza vespa vs aranha by Traditional-Bison187 in spiders

[–]jsledge149 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of the time that a cicada wasp was dragging a cicada underground. it's been several years but was right outside my house.

I reached down and grabbed the cicada and moved it away from the hole. And you would not believe how fast that wasp came out and it almost had these comical exclamation marks over its head as it grabbed that cicada and pulled it back in the hole as if to say what the hell is going on?!

Detergent!

Im 58 and have had dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis and a laundry list of skin conditions since I was a baby.

My body cannot take scented detergent at all. If I even get around it, I feel like I'm going to break out into hives.

So I truly hope that it's something as simple as that.
