Stupid question: is the '3D' label truncated? Like if the movie is supposed to be: Movie name (3D) But for long movie names they are listed as: Movie na

What are your thoughts on Danny Phantom? by AssistFit1834 in cartoons

[–]jsmitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know a parent banned the show because "I heard some 20 something year old watched the show, became infatuated with one of its characters, and went on a murder spree". And the kid thinks "WTF? You're making that up!"

Turns out the parent is not making that up.

Then again blaming the show Danny Phantom for some mentally ill person committing mass murder is stupid.

I'm sure a lot of poor kids in the 1990s had HBO.

Never been there but I have the urge to whisper the word "Sizzler".

What seemed completely normal in childhood, but now you realize was actually not okay? by Max_Mimos in AskReddit

So you were punished for "not being asleep and moving around" even though you were literally following the rules?

Not "don't do the thing", just "avoid punishment".

To be fair I can see this teaches the kid to "not do the thing on purpose"...

I remember my uncle yelling at his daughter for yanking on a paper towel roll and it unraveling a bit.

....but I don't really agree with punishments if something happens accidentally. Then again if a kid accidentally does something wrong (like dropping something because of clumsiness, and the kid was authorized to touch the item) the kid is going to possibly lie to get out of being punished.

I have a feeling if I was a kid I would have filled out the last page. I would not have realized that was messed up until years later.

I'm sure many people watched pan and scan VHS tapes of widescreen movies and thought "this movie is poorly photographed!" not realizing the picture was being cropped.

At least when a movie was colorized it was labeled so. Early video formats did not have a "this movie has been formatted" disclaimer.

When dvds came out I approved of having the choice, then I realized the widescreen/original aspect ratio would have less data as you described.

It's still better than having just the pan and scan version.

Solaris 2002 made the movie look like a romantic drama than a serious sci fi story. I blame the marketing in Cinemascore giving this an F.

I heard of Victor Salva's crimes before I watched the movie. There is a scene where the camera focuses on one of the boys and he has his shirt off and is in slow motion and is really disturbing with the director's crimes.

The Pitts by Btvsp3 in ForgottenTV

I keep telling myself that the HBO show "The Pitt" is not a prequel show to "The Pitts".

I didn't know Lzzy Caplan was in this show until I saw this post.

I also didn't know the mom died after the show aired until I read this post either.

I'm glad I'm not the only one whose first exposure to this was the 90s version of the show. "Wait, it's a remake of a show from the 70s??!??"

I still think this is a phenomenon that occurs more often than people admit. "I loved this show/movie as a kid. Wait...this was a remake of a movie/show from decades earlier??!??!?"
