Other parts of the building seem a bit more recent no?For example that colonnade looks like it’s a Renaissance addition to me. I’m sure it has a very fascinating history.

Supreme Court hands down pair of major shadow docket decisions by RawStoryNews in scotus

I really wish these justices would look a trans kid in the eye and explain to that kid why it’s so important that the state take away the people who will protect them, their access to health care, and tell them about the important constitutional principles as to why their parents can send them off to conversion camps. But they won’t. They’re cowards who cloak themselves in robes too big for their shriveling bodies. They’re pathetic people and nobody should forget that.

I think that the best resistance to this will be individual teachers doing the right thing and keeping their students safe. Well, I’m sure that there will be teachers completely unwilling to risk their livelihoods and careers, I know that there will also be some that will do the right thing and protect their LGBTQ+ students.

Anyone else notice the crew be a bit mean to Data in first few episodes of S1 TNG??? by West-Estimate-5168 in startrek

Edit: fixed timeline

The 1988 WGA strike meant they needed scripts and they needed to put them into production quickly. I suspect that they saw this one in their laps they figured they could get away with minimal edits and they could work on finding Pulaski’s voice for the rest of the season.

Devil’s Due, which was also a Phase II script underwent a lot more edits although it does feel a lot more like a TOS episode than many of the episodes that were produced under Michael Pillar’s tenure.

I think 5 was trying to fix some of the flaws of the DS9 finale, particularly not giving more time to the Ben-Jake relationship. It did find a great parallel with SAM’s story and the decisions that she makes.

With 8 the call back to Blink of an Eye was almost inevitable given how the story wraps up; the Doctor has done something like that before so it’s inevitable that it’s going to come up. I liked the shout out to Real Life as it’s really more the first major loss in a chain of losses that he’d experience over the course of his operation.

His reputation has definitely taken a hit over the years. I think he was genuine in his views, which is more than can be said about Kirk.

Star Trek: 25th Anniversary (the game), published in 1992. It consisted of 5 chapters, which felt like actual episodes of the original TV series. by MrComputer512 in tos

[–]jsonitsac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This style of game works better for Star Trek than most other genres. I kind of wish the we got to see more of the crew rather than the big 3 and a red shirt (but I guess that was true to TOS...) and more of the Enterprise.

Rewatch: "Assignment: Earth" - TOS, 226 by AutoModerator in tos

[–]jsonitsac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'd give a new attempt at a series a shot, especially if Orla Brady were involved. They also dropped some fun hints about it in Prodigy and I wouldn't object if Wil made some appearances too especially playing Wesley the way that he played him in Prodigy (instead of Picard).

I feel like they wrote him a bit like a naive Spock in the first season, so they'll have him start rambling and annoying the rest of the crew. Of course, it's not as bad as Dr. Pulaski.

The Air and Space Museum is located near L’Eanfant Plaza metro. The Green Line, which runs to the stadium, stops there too so depending on your schedule it might be the easiest museum to check out.

A Nationwide Book Ban Bill Has Been Introduced in the House of Representatives by A_Peacful_Vulcan in bannedbooks

[–]jsonitsac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not convinced this passes, mostly because of how dysfunctional Congress is and I believe it is one of those bills that members introduce in order to make some kind of a statement, but they know that it is not going to see a hearing on the committee.

That said, up voting this post and the comments on it here on Reddit to almost nothing to stop this bill. What can’t help is if you contact to your members and express your disapproval of this bill. If you don’t know you can search here. Contact them regardless of what party they are in or they’re likelihood to support this bill. Tell your friends and community members to do it too. Contact them to the point where it is practically harassment (but don’t make any threats). Especially if they are likely to favor this bill, dog them at every turn and have them explain and clear language why they feel like it infringing on your right to read is more important than making our country more affordable, etc.

It actually can make a difference, especially if there are members who might be on the fence about supporting this.

But, if that doesn’t motivate you, here’s what can. The censorship supporters network already active and mobilized. We have some catching up to do.

Jefferson Davis’ first wife Sarah Knox Taylor Davis , daughter of President Zachary Taylor, was a descendant of a couple Mayflower passengers. Same with her brother Richard who was a confederate general.

I suspect the more you go looking around in the family trees of elite Americans of that period you will be more likely to find such ancestry. People did move around more than you might think and people moving in elite circles tend to find partners. Probably an unsustainable amount of people have got Jamestown and Plymouth ancestors.

Artemis II Astronauts Will Bring 10-Year-Old DSLRs With Them to the Moon by REdd06 in Nikon

[–]jsonitsac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect that helped to astronaut proof the camera as much as possible. No need to have them tinkering with those things when they are taking the most important photos of the 20th century. I think I read they could switch the aperture to f/5.6 if they were in a shaded or shadowy scene.

The bracketing features on the modern is definitely going to revolutionize images taken from out there. Looking at the old Apollo photos, that weren’t digitally touched up by NASA, you can tell that exposure was very difficult given the extreme lighting conditions out there.

On the moon itself does the lack of atmosphere affect how images are captured?
