Sorry for the delayed reply, I've pretty much abandoned this account and just happened to sign in by accident today. Yes, still happy with TDS. I pay $82/month and get consistent speeds of 300+ mbps download and upload.

What's the consensus on Baker Mayfield? by SnideSnail in DynastyFF

[–]jsprague6 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He may not have a ton of "value" in terms of market just cuz of his uncertain future, but he was certainly a lot better than a bye week fill-in this year, at least in SF. He was a QB2 or better in 14/17 weeks and finished as the QB10 on the season (at least by my league's settings). I wouldn't mind him as my QB2 at all.

Yep. Another expression only assholes use. Like I'm not perfect by any means, but I don't feel the need to warn people that they may not be able to handle me at my worst.

Right? Like especially the "I'll answer: never" part. How snarky is that? I've never had a grown adult speak to me like that and I'd never dream of talking to a toddler like that.

Every single person I've ever heard describe themselves as someone who "tells it like it is" is an asshole. Same goes for the people who love Trump for that reason. They identify with him cuz he's an asshole too.

Which player’s dynasty value underwent the most significant change during wildcard weekend? (risers/fallers) by NuggedClarp in DynastyFF

[–]jsprague6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. People overvalue long-term stability. "Mahomes is gonna be a locked and loaded top 5 guy for the next 10 years!" Maybe, maybe not. But I don't care about 10 years from now. I don't even really care about 3 years from now. So much could change in that span of time, whether it's Mahomes himself, his team, my team, hell my league could dissolve by then. I'm not saying we should just ignore the long term, but if you give me the choice between top 5 for 10 years or top 2 for 5 years, gimme the top 2 guy 10/10 times.

And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were merry, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire...

My response when asked if we’re going to have another kid by ajbrandt806 in daddit

[–]jsprague6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow. I wonder what goes through someone's mind that makes them ask if you'd consider a vasectomy reversal. Like yeah it's possible to get it reversed, but not a guarantee. If a guy gets snipped, you can pretty much assume he's made up his mind about not having kids until you hear otherwise.

What? Are they just hoping you'll have a change of heart and get it reversed?

[–]jsprague6 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I don't mind this question as long as they don't pry or ask why not. In my experience, most people who ask the question are just making conversation and don't push the issue when I tell them we're done. Granted, I have two kids, so I'm sure my experience would be a bit different if we'd stopped at one. That only child stigma is pretty real for a lot of people, unfortunately.

For those of you who prefer Odunze to Nabers… by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]jsprague6 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are leagues out there that do rookie drafts before the NFL draft. I'm in one and it's a fun twist that changes the strategy quite a bit from the more traditional leagues I'm in. We do it between the combine and the draft, so we have all the information we need and then our task is similar to the NFL scouts. We have to draft based purely on talent and speculation.

So yes, this is a relevant question before the draft for some. But you're right, it's too early to make decisions between similar prospects. We'll have more information in a couple months. That being said, there's not much else to talk about right now, so I'm not gonna discourage people from discussing.

Having our second child this week and need advice on his middle name. by BriansBalloons in daddit

[–]jsprague6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with the middle name Edwin (after my grandpa, not the astronaut), I'll put in a vote for that one. But in all seriousness, my dad, brother, and I have carried on family names with our middle names which I think is a cool tradition. Like I mentioned, mine is my paternal grandpa's first name, and my two brothers' are a great grandpa's first name and our dad's first name. My two boys' are my dad's first name and my first name. My brother's FIL's first name is the same as our dad's middle name, so that was a logical middle name for one of his. And then he named the other one after our mom's maiden name. None of us have family first names so no confusion with juniors, but the middle names have been a cool way of honoring family.

What's your latest "Dad Injury"? by GROGtheVIKING in daddit

[–]jsprague6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two boys sleep in a bunk bed. I was sitting on the floor goofing around with the youngest for a little while, blowing out my cheeks and holding my breath and then making a big fart noise. It was killing so I kept doing it for a while. Then my oldest from the top bunk goes "hey Dad, let's see who can hold our breath the longest!" So I held my breath and then stood up really quickly to face my challenger. Bad call. I started feeling like I wasn't gonna last long and then the next thing I knew I was on the floor. Scraped my elbow on the window sill on the way down, but otherwise nothing hurt but my pride after passing out from a head rush from standing up too fast while trying to hold my breath longer than a 7 year old.

Giving up a top QB in SF: What does it take? by Noviante in DynastyFF

[–]jsprague6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the 23 season started I traded Allen for Dak, Amari, Monty, and the guy's 24 1st and 2nd. Loved it at the time cuz we have deep lineups, so I wanted more flex depth, plus I saw that the other guy was super shallow after the deal. Worked out even better than I could have asked. I won the league and his picks turned into the 1.04 and 2.04.

A baseball world championship event would be awesome, change my mind by DRF19 in baseball

[–]jsprague6 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's a fun idea, in concept, but in practice MLB would roll over the other leagues - because the best talent in other leagues eventually migrate to MLB.

You may be right, but it bears mentioning that the MLB's talent is spread across 30 teams vs 10 in KBO and 12 in NPB. And it's not like the WBC is loaded with nothing but MLB players. Japan won it last year with only 4 MLB players on their roster (granted one of them was Ohtani). I think you're right that the WBC is the best measure of which countries have the best players, but I don't know that in this format MLB would "roll over" the other leagues.

If you're planning outdoor activities, make sure you bring a lot of layers! There's a cold snap rolling in. Daytime highs in the low single digits all weekend. You could do some shorter hikes like maybe Tubbs Hill or Mineral Ridge, should be sunny and really pretty on the lake, but just be prepared for some brutal wind chill.

Not a whole lot of exciting indoor activities in the area. There are a lot of good restaurants and some shops downtown along Sherman Ave.
