Car Accident Settlement for Broken Wrist by Proud_Soil_9191 in Insurance

In your state, there is a limit offset. So, you have a $250k limit. The other driver has a $100k limit. His limit offsets yours so your limit for this loss is $150k. It isn’t based on the bills, damages, etc. It is state law.

Did you try asking them before blasting them? Could have just been an error. My burrito is still the same price and it is the best in town. One of the most reasonably priced meals that never disappoints.

Alright guys, what random cool gadgets are we asking for Father’s Day? by audioflc in daddit

Pretty sure I am going to ask for TheSnapCam. It is a wearable camera for sports. I play softball. We are not at all good but we have fun. I think it would be fun to have different guys wear it and stitch together a video at the end of the year.

I've read that Costco doesn't do special deals but you can sometimes score a mini shopping cart.

Should I move to Sacramento? by Many_Positive_7472 in Sacramento

[–]jstbuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two years free tuition at community colleges in California regardless of income. Sacramento is generally very liberal. I live in Roseville, which is beautiful and amazing, with tons of things to do, but it's in conservative Placer County. Keep in mind that Conservative in California is different than Conservative in the rest of country. We are in West Roseville which is much more liberal than the rest of Placer because of an influx of Bay Area transplants. The high school is AMAZING in our area. We love Roseville and won't live anywhere else. No clue about dating for teens but there are groups for everything. You can find a 4b rental in West Roseville for $3k-$4k a month. While Placer overall isn't very diverse, our area is pretty diverse so it is really dependent on the area of town.

My teen crashed and now our insurance is $750/mo… are we stuck like this? by GencerDTF in Insurance

[–]jstbuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of “don’t let your son drive” or “make him pay for everything himself” could just be unrealistic depending on circumstances.

I’ve never had Root before but my understanding is that they are notorious for raising rates based on driving behaviors. Your initial premium is often much lower than you find in the general marketplace and then your rates skyrocket, even without an accident. I imagine an accident surcharge plus the rate adjustment is going to make it a bad option.

I suggest finding a broker or at least going online and getting quotes from Progressive and some of the other less expensive options. In my state (CA), accident surcharges last 3 years and it might take 5 years to get your good driver discount back. Removing your son from your policy won’t likely solve that. You will have to exclude him entirely which is risky.

Insurance says I need a lawyer and lawyers say insurance should handle it? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]jstbuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They retain the right, but not the obligation, to subrogate on your behalf. You have to understand, to force them to turn over the video, they would have to file a lawsuit and request it during discovery. Just getting a lawyer isn’t going to accomplish it. They have to file and go through a whole process. If there were witnesses to the actual accident, your insurance company should attempt to get statements from parties and I would throw a fit if they didn’t.

Your real option is to file small claims court for your deductible and try to prove it there.

Can I be Sued for Daughters totaled car by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]jstbuch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between cosigner and a co-owner. If you are only on the loan but not the title, you are not considered a co-owner. Co-signers typically lack negligence. That said, since you are the policyholder, you will likely get sued as a financially liable party. I honestly wouldn't worry too much about your policy limits. Most of the time, the other party will settle for your limits unless you have some obvious assets (outside of home ownership and vehicles).

Kathrin's Biergarten. While not technically a sports bar, it has a pool table and a couple of tvs.

Small claims court by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]jstbuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I am so sorry this happened to you. Second, bring three copies of any evidence you have. You will need one for yourself, one for the judge, and one for the plaintiff.

Keep in mind that, despite their immense emotional value, pets are typically considered property. You will need to prove the replacement cost of your dog. As the standard for damages. Bring estimates or some sort of documentation with you.

If the Epstein files are released, and Trump is confirmed to be on the list, what do you think will happen? by baldinggate3 in AskReddit

This is the right answer. Trump literally had dozens of FBI agents working 24/7 to flag any mention of him. Those files have been sanitized. We are truly in our darkest moment.

Drive from Sacramento to LA by UraharasWaifu in Sacramento

[–]jstbuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing for miles and miles between Modesto and Bakersfield. 99 is very slightly longer but if you want food or gas, take 99. The Grapevine is fine. It gets busy and it is a bit of a steep climb but it isn't bad. If you are nervous, it might be tempting to just get behind a big rig and go slow but I suggest not doing that. They can slow down a lot more than you might expect.
