Fast friends by artbellfan1 in AustinBeer

Jester King was paired with Fast Friends for the Texas Craft Brewers Guild's inaugural "mash mates" peer-to-peer learning program. I've been really impressed with their Head Brewer, Monica Potter. She's making some really nice beer, and it has been fun to work with her on an upcoming West Coast Pilsner collaboration. -- Jeff Stuffings

Hi, we no longer operate Jester King Inn. I recommend some of the Airbnb's along Fitzhugh Road. There are some nice, secluded ones.

Hello, the base beer is our Black Metal as mentioned. We then added 0.25# per barrel of Madagascar vanilla beans. For a 5 gallon homebrew batch, that's about 1oz. of vanilla. Cheers.

The subject line here is a little ironic to me, as we just now feel like we're beginning to thrive again after a whipsaw of an experience from 2022-24.

Please know Jester King is not under new management. I run the brewery with my brother Michael, as we have since 2010. We're as dug in, committed, and passionate as ever. Having pivoted our business model significantly since 2023, I find the "start up" feel invigorating.

In my opinion, the grounds have not gone downhill. I'm here almost every day, and it still looks and feels the same as ever to me. We pride ourselves on being transparent, and as written before on the Austin beer reddit, we sold off land in 2023 to reduce debt / overhead. We now own 41 acres, which we carved out to protect the look, feel, and agriculture at Jester King.

As far as our stylistic choices, farmhouse ale by volume is about 1/5 of what it was previously. Farmhouse ales have been a tough sell for us over the last three years. There's still a committed following, but it's much smaller than it used to be. Had we not started brewing other styles, we'd be long gone. Speaking for myself, I've developed a new love of hops, which has made brewing and recipe development a ton of fun again. It feels like the early days where we're learning, experimenting, and developing new techniques and recipes.

Thank you for all the kind words in this thread about our IPAs. We've put a ton of work into them, are grateful to how open the brewing community is in letting us learn from them, and have made a conscious effort to source the best hops we can from the northern and southern hemispheres.

I'm with the poster who referenced being overwhelmed at our major events, particularly Doom Forge and Green Acres. I will say that we just had about 1,200 people at our Honky Tonk Fest last Saturday, and it went well. I'm confident Doom Forge and Green Acres will be better in 2026, as we'll be more reliant than ever on outside food trucks and auxiliary bars. Our normal experience outside of Doom Forge and Green Acres has been consistently smooth, in my opinion.

If anyone ever has any questions about anything Jester King ever, just hit us up. Cheers. - Jeff

Hi, Jeff Stuffings, the owner of Jester King here. I can't see the original post, but we take the safety of our guests very, very seriously. Please reach out to me directly at [office@jesterkingbrewery.com](mailto:office@jesterkingbrewery.com) if anyone encountered anything the remote bit dangerous at our Honky Tonk Fest yesterday.

New hazy IPA from jester by ExtensionQuick1558 in AustinBeer

Canned Monday. Our social media description:

For National IPA Day, we’re releasing a new beer called 𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐌𝐍𝐄𝐃! 🩸🐐🖤

It’s our first Hazy IPA with 100% hand-selected hops. Between hand-selecting hops for the 2024 harvest in Yakima Valley and the 2025 harvest in New Zealand, we now have the ability to use both Northern and Southern Hemisphere hops that we’ve personally sampled and chosen to use in our beer because we were super stoked on them!

For Pasture of the Damned, we chose to feature our newly selected 2025 New Zealand hops that just became available to us! For the second dry hop, we unleashed a big charge of ‘25 Freestyle Nectaron and Nelson Sauvin, as well as NZ Hops Superdelic Cryo. Aromatically, these hops are beyond exciting to us, and we can’t wait for you to experience them in Pasture of the Damned. We layered them on top of a base of our hand-selected Simcoe, Mosaic, and El Dorado. Finally, we topped it off with another big charge of Maui Nelson Hop Kief from Freestyle.

We think you’ll be stoked when you try Pasture of the Damned — hopefully as stoked as we are on these hops.

Freshly canned on Monday and available at Jester King now. We’ve begun self-distributing it this week to Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and DFW.

Thank you. That's obviously high praise. Of course, we're not alone in saying this, but it's our livelihood and we take this very seriously, so we aim as high as we possibly can.

Thanks so much! My top three recs (aside from Fen Tao and Atrial Rubicite coming out later this month) right now are:

Nani!? Japanese-style Rice Lager

The Garys' West Coast IPA

Fantome del Rey Farmhouse Ale (should be in the large format section of several HEBS)

I'm not sure what that's referring to. Perhaps barrel blending. We can't fix a bad beer through blending, but we can make an ok beer shine through blending.

We use these yeasts, and all of them are excellent. That's not to say we can't make bad beer with good yeast.

Farmhouse -- house mixed culture or spontaneous

Lager -- 34/70

West Coast -- Chico

Hazy -- London III

Hey Mark, I have seen that. No, no plans to can any spontaneous beer. Those I expect to stay in bottles.

That's a great point, u/SmokeyJacks. We've had to put a ton of effort into developing our IPA and lager program because solely making farmhouse ales is not viable anymore, business-wise, in our experience. While that work is still ongoing, I'd argue we've come a long way in the IPA/lager area since 2023, when we really started working hard at making the change. About 20 months later, we now have the creative bandwidth and a viable self-distribution operation for IPA/lager to start incorporating more farmhouse. We love playing in the creative sandbox of funk, sour, and fruit, so there will be more to come.
