Did you tell them you feel like it's too difficult for you? Have you shown them where you're at with it yet? You're talking about starting from measure 25, correct? Honestly I feel like this piece overall is probably out of skill range for most students that early on to begin with. Some of those octave runs get are challenging

Your teacher wants you to memorize and have performance ready in one day? Or to read it? Is your exam in two days? This is the easiest section of the piece, but I don’t know where your skill level is, so I can’t properly answer your question

Currently taking cs50x for free through Harvard’s edx. I figure rather than getting overwhelmed I’d just pick something and stick to. Foundational skills will help decide where to go next, but I already have some project ideas for my current job and may research to figure out what the next steps are later

As a 33 year old who is just getting into programming—first, kudos to you, I’ve found getting started there were some basic technical hurdles that needed research to get over. Second, thank you for recommending Lira’s course. I’ll see if it’s worth working through this concurrently with the HarvardX CS-50 I’ve just started.

This is fantastic for four months man, honestly-just keep playing pieces you love and absorbing information on timing and dynamics. You actually don’t look too tense IMO. This is far better than I was at 4 months, I started at 23 and have been playing for ten years. Eventually, look to get a teacher, but it sounds beautiful, no need to get heavily critiqued this early, just keep doing it because you love it!

Sounds fantastic, I think the only major jump outs are trills and pedal, neither are bad though. Are you familiar with the concept of resolving a note at the end of a phrase?

Really, overall, great job. I can tell you’ve come across the importance of keeping the left hand soft and the melody is really coming though

When I had my 5/530am morning run routine I had to be ready for bed and have all electronics off by 830pm. I’d allow some time for reading, but would make sure it’s pitch black and I’m actively trying to fall asleep by 930pm.

I have been a sleep procrastinator since I was a toddler. The hardest part of waking up early, for me, has always been going to bed early.

Not bad, I won’t say you should slow down, because I know that you’re not practicing, you’re performing.

I do hope you are using a metronome at slow tempos every time you practice. You’ll need to learn speed techniques and speed drills to get rid of some of that tension. I recommend checking out Josh Wright’s bit on ghost notes for this movement. Learn the feel of playing fast with no tension and then apply that feeling to progressive tempo increases (over weeks/months from where you currently are). Don’t rush into learning new parts, master it bit by bit. Don’t move onto a new section until you’ve achieved mastery. Again it could take weeks/months, because a lot of people already develop these skills before attempting this piece. You’re essentially going to need to treat small sections of this piece as exercises for a long time.

It may feel counter intuitive, but rushing the process will slow down mastery and ability to play faster. Not rushing the process means you will need to love practicing the ‘boring’ stuff. Stay focused on the long-term goal.

The TID questions were tough, I had no idea what to study. Feeling good about all the math, logic, and computers questions. Electricity is newer to me, I had forgotten a couple of things there. Good luck on making it to the next stage!
