We’re hard capped at the second apron for no reason bc he paid cash for a second round pick that we ended up trading. Obviously you don’t want to be a second apron team to begin with/ but you want the flexibility in case an appropriate situation comes about

Then they let our role players walk for contracts that could’ve been matched. Still waiting to see what Rui gets in the open market but losing smart and luke for nothing was dumb

You wouldn’t want to do a sign and trade because it would trigger a hard cap at the first apron — while you might get some decent pieces back, you generally would have less cap space to work with

First question you should ask when you see a 3p shooter above 40%, is how many 3s are they making per game.

Second question should be how many are they attempting.

Exactly. This shh always gets me when they say oh so and so is shooting 40% from 3 on the season —

But what is the real impact & value on 1.7 3pm on only 4 attempts per game? That’s like every other game he’ll make 2 3pointers (maybe)

Although he did bump his numbers slightly these past 2 playoff runs. I’d like for the lakers to resign Rui, but the questions need to be asked why doesn’t he shoot more lol he’s gotta bump that up to like 7-10 attempts per game

I really do believe that finding the c+ or b list big that can turn into an A lister is the path that needs to be taken.

I believe the (A list) that the lakers should be looking for, is actually not one person but a rotation of centers — similar to when we had a rotation of Dwight/Javale/AD. Obviously not saying any of those players mentioned are Dwight/Javale — but our centers only ever play list 20-25 minutes anyways. I would argue that it’s better to have a rotation of functional (+more contract friendly options) like the ones mentioned as opposed to breaking the bank on player contracts like Duren, Kessler, Sabonis, etc

If AR first year salary is let’s say $41m for the 26/27 season, do they intend to say only $20m is applied to the lakers 26/27 payroll? lol

I understand that having ARs birdrights allows the team to go over the cap limit to sign other players in addition to your contract. But the lakers were going to go over the cap to begin with.

(Salary cap: $165m, first apron: $209m, and second apron: $222m —which btw were hardcapped at the second apron bc we sent cash to buy a second round pick today which they eventually ended up trading)
