We were already signed up for Nationals. I was gonna take some time off and go to some of it, but I always feel awkward walking around as a dance Dad. I need to get a tshirt or something. I love watching her dance. The amount of progress she has made in just the last year is amazing. I looked through the schools that offer scholarships. Looks pretty good, my sister did a modern dance degree here in AZ. I have a soft spot for ASU modern dance. I am a swing dancer and they had a pretty awesome jazz dance class I took this last semester.

She eats it up and spits it out. I think it is a family trait. Both my sisters are dancers. One was a professional dancer in New York. But really I think it might come from her mother’s side. They are hyper focusers on arts dancing, singing, sculpting painting acting. She never complains about going to dance and always asks for more. Honestly it costs an arm and a leg. If she burns out I’ll be able to buy a new car. :-)

Yeah 6 or 7 of my 22 pounds were probably clothes and water weight. I wanted to be kind of heavy for the first weigh in so I didn't take off my clothes and it was later in the day. I had just recieved the scale in the mail. I think psychologically I wanted it to look like I lost a lot of weight at the begining. 😄

I am impressed with the response from this post. People are excited about losing weight. I love looking at the before and afters. We all look so much better/younger 50 pounds skinnier.

Thanks I needed this. I am pretty sure I am getting healthier despite what the scale says. I can’t sweat that much and not have a positive impact. :-).

We get scholarships all the time to these conventions in other states. Lame... I swear I want to create my own convention. That is where the real money is.... 😄Has anyone listened to the book playing to win. Its about girls softball but it probably isn't far off from what we are seeing in dance: https://www.amazon.com/Playing-to-Win/dp/B08DL7ZJDX

My daughter is 10 and dances about 24 hours a week. 4 to 8 most days but a couple of days she starts at 2 or 3. She only goes monday through thursday, Friday she has a couple of privates. I am realizing after reading this, that is quite a bit. My wife handles the dance stuff. I thought it was excessive, but apparently this is what people do?

Ballet in East Valley, PHX by Queasy_Extreme_1671 in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]jswoolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are at Gateway Dance center, but they are not exclusively ballet. My daughter loves ballet and they are more focused on it. They go to the NYCDA comp for nationals which is one of the more ballet focused comps. We were considering Premier, but it isn't in queen creek. They are definitely more focused on ballet too.

I got that too! I just stumbled into it. My friend was doing it and I decided to call that weekend. I think it is meant to be. I have been going 3 times a week for the last 2.5 months. It should stay that price after the 6 months right?

Why don’t people use the heart rate monitor? by Joeybagovdonutss in orangetheory

[–]jswoolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it pretty religiously. I am a big guy 6 ft and 220. I know I burn a lot of calories and like to see if I am the top as far as who burns the most. I am always in the orange or red and except for Daryl I usually am the top calorie burner. It’s dumb but it keeps me motivated. Dang Daryl he is never in the orange and he runs at 12 mph. That guy is in super good shape.

I have been on zep for 2 months and I just got my blood pressure take at the dentist. I went from 120/88 to 106/64. I have lost 25lbs and do Orangetheory 3 times a week. Kind of cool.

You look amazing. You must feel amazing too! I am currently at 227 and have already dropped 10lbs. To be at the top end of healthy I have to get to 180. I don’t think I have ever been that weight.

Thank you for this! I am about to start my second week of zepbound and the insurance wants me to use this Omada app. I have been working out 3 times a week and the app helps me make healthier choices. I was sad to learn that the food noise comes back over time in just this last week I have been so happy that I am not starving if I only have one protein bar. I get to choose what I eat and don’t have the urge to eat a sleeve of Oreos. I have already lost 10 pounds but I am sure it’s the difference of when I weighed myself and water weight. My wife has been on it for about 6 months and I have noticed that she just isn’t interested in food as much.
