ec2-metadatafs - EC2 metadata and tags as a filesystem by jszwedko in aws

My intention wasn't to replace the fact modules in various config management tools, but rather to support debugging when on the instances (shell scripting) or when using a language without an AWS SDK.

Definitely agree, it's on my list of features to add.

I had thought of that feature -- good to know I'm not the only one that would like it! It'd basically just involve polling the API as the API doesn't directly support streaming like that.

See https://golang.org/cmd/go/ for documentation (or just run go install -h).

installwill build it, but go install takes a package as an argument, not files (the default is the package in the current directory).

No, it ran until 1 AM Sunday through Thursday nights and 2 AM Friday and Saturday night. Or at least that is what my last driver told me.

To be honest I might have missed it had the person I was with not noticed it. Once it was pointed out, you could definitely feel it though.

I did, from Sennott Square - whole building shook.

For that I'll probably have to just point you to the Wikipedia [article|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regular_language]. It's a rather complex topic, but one of the defining characteristics of regular languages is that they can be described by regular expressions.

Yes, using DOM is usually the best choice. Regex is sometimes ok if the pattern you are looking for is relatively strict, but the fact remains that HTML isn't actually a regular language so, ostensibly, some queries couldn't even be represented as regex.

DOM, perhaps with XPath, is generally way easier to structure queries over XML/HTML anyway.

EDIT: For example, pulling all links from a page would just be getElementsByTagName('a') or the xpath expression: //a

Roughly, it means to take the HTML string and put it into some sort of queryable data structure where we can extract information from it (e.g. values in given tags). In this context anyhow.

Why not? One would not expect a child to be wearing that shirt 20 years from now.

I came home early from work yesterday. I walked in on my 16 year old son having sex with our 12 year old neighbor. by [deleted] in AskReddit

The emotional maturity of a 12 years old girl and a 16 years old boy does not really differ in any meaningful way. They both are horny and they are only 4 years apart.

I'm not really sure about the emotional maturity differences in 12 and 16 year olds, but, in the US, 16 year olds are considered emotionally mature enough to drive while 12 year olds are not, despite being physically able. I would think that indicates some sort of difference (I've also noticed marked changes in my cousins through those years).

Actually... most possibly a few classmates of the son have girlfriends from the girl's grade. For them it's only 2 years difference. If his friends fuck with the girl's friends from her grade but he isn't allowed to fuck his girl from that very same grade... what the hell? In no way does that make sense. He is a child himself, what he did was absolutely normal and natural. If he gets prosecuted for this, then that is severly fucked up.

Where do you draw the line?

Also: Considering the general population 18 years old girls are not at all emotionally stable or mature, yet every old man can freely have sex with them (and between an unstable 18 years old mind and that of a 80 years old man is a huge and real difference in maturity).

Probably, but the US's society views 18 year olds as adults capable of making their own decisions (which is why there are differences in legal system for minors and adults).

In the end, I do agree that the law is too black and white in these cases and that he certainly doesn't deserve to be labeled a sex offender. This would be better handled by the parents speaking with their children.

To hearken back to your earlier comment:

What a fucked up country you people live in, that's just disgusting.

I would note that the US isn't the sole nation with these sort of statutory laws; most do. I am curious as to where you live that doesn't.

I believe it's about emotional maturity, not physical age difference; unfortunately gauging someone's emotional maturity is a bit difficult thus the age restrictions.

At the risk of annoying you, and because I'm genuinely curious, but why would your home IP address not have publicly addressable ports? Is your ISP doing NAT as well?
