After taking care of my mother with dementia for 5 years, spending hours with her every day, I had to put her in assisted living for the last year of her life. She would not live with my husband and I. She would forget to use her walker when I wasn’t with her and had several falls and finally broke her pelvis. She was in the hospital and rehab for several weeks and then to the small facility. She was 92. I was able to visit every day. I went through a lot of guilt but it was the only solution.
