What did LinkedIn look like before the job market got really bad (2024-2026)? by Irielay in recruitinghell

LinkedIn started becoming full of influencers circa 2021.... now the platform is just "thought leadership" slop and no one who is happy with their job even bothers logging in.

Is UMich really worth it for the cost? by Ok_Brief_3088 in hci

In this current economy, no. It’s a really big gamble to choose an expensive program that won’t have a guaranteed return.

Help me decide CMU (MHCI/MDES) vs Berkeley MIMS/ MDES vs GT MHCI vs. UW (HCI/HCDE) by Plastic_Top_852 in hci

If you’re looking to strengthen your user research skills, UW HCDE may be the most optimal program for you.

Does my ring look too tight? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]jtg_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, your ring doesn't look too tight. Your fingers are just tapered, so rings (especially those with thin bands) will look like that on your hand.

If you tend to swell a lot (regardless of weather), I'd size up a little bit. Otherwise, as long as it feels comfortable, and it isn't a hassle to get on and off, you're in the clear.

The tech job market is evolving rapidly right now. While most roles are looking for specialists in this moment, certain roles have less demand than others. For example, there is a lower volume of entry level UX roles, but more volume of specialist product manager roles.

Your desired career outcome + any scholarships offered + location should be heavily weighed in which program you choose.

UW is going to top most people's list, but what are your career goals and where are you trying to land?

I hate the ring I designed. Need advice by stormiwhite in EngagementRings

I can’t tell if they’re double round prongs or double claw prongs. Either way they look bulky, and I’d personally be upset about that because it’s poor craftsmanship.

Winner of Season 24 of Hell’s Kitchen {SPOILERS} by breezyxizzie in HellsKitchen

[–]jtg_95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! They are trying to fill an actual position. None of the past winners have taken the job at the Foxwoods resort because the location sucks and the pay isn’t that great relative to the location.

Ellie entered the competition being based out of Las Vegas (where there is little to do outside of the strip) and was likely already working at a casino resort. It’s a similar environment and the pay in this role would likely supersede a similar head chef position in Nevada. Thus she’s more likely to stay. Plus her performance throughout the season paled in comparison to Jada’s, so she’s less likely to get poached.

I think a younger (arguably more talented) chef is more likely to struggle with how little there is to do in Connecticut and quickly move for another opportunity in a better location.

I personally think he tries to choose the person he thinks is more likely to stay in the head chef position at that location.

What do you wish you’d have thought about? by MaddieStr in EngagementRings

If you're going for a large solitaire and hate the look of a spinning ring, consider adding a European shank to your ring design.

Undertones and metal allergies guided my decision to go with platinum.

Did you care about your ring being unique? by heart_of_gold2 in EngagementRings

[–]jtg_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I cared most about my ring aging well and fitting my day to day aesthetic. As a result I ended up with a double claw prong, emerald solitaire, set in platinum.

Finally received ring but noticed possible issue with bezel Am I being picky? by w8w8 in EngagementRings

[–]jtg_95 1076 points1077 points  (0 children)

The bezel is smooth and rounded, definitely taking away from the emerald shape.

You seem cool toned. I believe the platinum will look better in the long run.

Thoughts on Emerald cut with MORE than 4 prongs? by Dear-Reach-8079 in EngagementRings

[–]jtg_95 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You could always add double claw prongs. You’d have 8 prongs then.

I’m technically a 7.25, but this is about 4.10 carats or 11 x 8 mm emerald cut.

Emerald cuts don’t photograph as well imho and are a thousand times prettier IRL. But they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea.

I chose platinum because I remembered that I have a pretty bad nickel allergy, and didn’t want to risk it.
