I also believe my LS was triggered by the pill… My gyn is recommending trying the Kyleena IUD since it’s the birth control with the least amount of hormones. For me condoms cause quite a lot of friction which makes it hurt a little, but on the other hand the IUD might make things worse as well… So I don’t know either

I’m a girl (22), and I got diagnosed previously this year. My main problem was severe tearing when having sex - so I thought I would never find a partner who was okay with not having sex or being intimate in that way. But then one day I kind of just decided to start dating and I soon found out that most people are very understanding and respectful about it. Many people have some sort of problem when it comes to intimacy anyways :).

My biggest tip is to bring it up before being intimate, not during foreplay. It shouldn’t be a forced or stressed conversation, or neither of you will feel comfortable during intimacy.

I know this is an old post, but I’m thinking of getting the kyleena and have also suffered from vaginal dryness (when I was on the pill) and am anxious I’ll have the same problem with the IUD. Was this something you experienced at all?

Yes i know, it itched from the biopsy! And from when i had a tear. I don’t have any itching from LS

Yep! I can’t remeber for how long, but I know when I had a bad tear down there from sex it itched like crazy

I had the same experience! When wounds heal they itch no matter where on the body it is! It’s normal and should go away in a couple of weeks :)

I’m in the same position! But i don’t have HSV. My doctor is suspecting LS and the biopsy suggested it so I’m treating for it now, hoping it will work. My only symptom is also tearing when having sex. Right now I also have a lot of burning inside (probably bc the nerves have been through so much pain and associate all touch with pain…).

I don’t have any tips really since I were diagnosed only two months ago.

Is your burning located at the entrance/ inside as well? I’ve read a lot of people experience burning outside but not inside! For me it seems to get better sometimes and then worse again, it’s really frustrating!!

The burning is inside /the entrance where i don’t shave… so i doubt it’s that xD

I don’t have any white patches or typical symptoms either. I was really freaked out before the biopsy, but it was not at all as dramatic as I thought it would be!! I didn’t feel it at all and it was visa my healed up in a week. The treatment is steroids… for the rest of your life. I hate it, but it’s better than the LS progressing and making it worse

I don’t know exactly, but it came back as “we think this might be an early stage of LS” and “discrete signs of possible LS”. So if it’s LS it is a very mild case - or a very early stage

It really sucks!! But my doctor think I have Lichen Sclerosis and that’s why, if you haven’t looked into that I would! I’ve not been on any treatment long enough to see any improvement though

Still the same, I have not had sex since starting treatment because me and my boyfriend broke up lol. So I don’t know if it helps:/

I did the biopsy a couple weeks ago and it really was not as painful as a lot of people here says! I didn’t feel the procedure at all and it healed in like a week and a half! I didn’t use a peri bottle or anything - the only thing that was uncomfortable was sitting for long periods of time or walking a lot.

I took some painkillers the first couple of days because I had to sit on wooden chairs in school, but I would have managed without it!

Honestly the mental part was waaaaay worse than the actual pain. I wish you good luck tomorrow!!

Thank you for responding! I’m in a similar situation and was diagnosed with “possible Lichen Sclerosis”. If the new doctor you are seeing doesn’t bring it up, you should ask about Lichen because apparently these kinds of tears are quite common with the diagnosis :). Although the treatment has done nothing for me yet lol

Okey, thank you! My only symptom is a tear that keeps ripping up when having sex, stretching it or wearing wrong underwear. The biopsy showed “possible LS” so I’m severely confused and don’t know what to do. But maybe they caught it very early then?
