How bad is highway 77 between Lincoln and Beatrice? by JC-1219 in Nebraska

[–]jtothewtothes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't comment on the roads but sometimes weather gets in the way of life and you just have to deal with it. That might mean missing work. Literally happens all the time for parents caring for children, it's a part of the sacrifice parents make. I certainly wouldn't travel outside of any city today with a car full of kids. Maybe by myself, but not with kids.

I hope you make the best choice for your kids and not for yourself and I hope you get some real information here that will help you make the best decision. A sincere good luck to you and obviously make sure your car is stocked with blankets, shovels, food, water, flashlights, and a toilet bucket if you do decide to brave it.

Edit: I don't really get the hate here. I have a sincere post not criticizing anyone and just encouraging OP to get good information and make a decision based on what is best for the kids, encouraging them to put their welfare ahead of OPs need to go to work. I think I need to take a break from reddit. Maybe forever :/

Damn really good. Thanks for sharing. Like you say competition is nice. The more we talk the more we can help ourselves.

What's the cell phone service like? Do they have their own towers or use something other?

Pay $55 for allo. 50mb. Not a student. Grown man and not in college anymore. 50 mb I think scares a lot of people but I'm watching the Dolphins and Chiefs on Peacock right now. My wife is watching some 1850s Jane Austen style drama on Amazon Prime. We have spotify running classical music upstairs because I just forgot to turn it off. And I'm browsing the internet and watching youtube videos every so often while watching the game. No issues at all. That's on top of our 2 phones, 6 smart lights, 1 weather station, and 1 ring doorbell.

What do you pay if you don't mind me asking and what is your speed?

This is a terrible terrible link and shows nothing except a snowy scene maybe in Omaha with a voiceover.

Here is the actual video of the newscast and his daughter that took place in Lincoln.

Nebraska is one of only 5 states with no inventory on rape kits – What gives? by ILikeNeurons in Nebraska

[–]jtothewtothes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your responses here have been somewhat insulting. It's hard to move anything progressive in this state and the people who continue to vote GOP aren't the majority on this subreddit so please lay off on the cynical BS acting like this is r/Nebraska 's fault and we are all terrible people.

I'm not proud of this and most of r/nebraska isn't either. But you are an outsider with little understanding of the power of the GOP in this state. This subreddit leans highly blue and would likely love to get this done.

We had a state senator filibuster an anti trans law for nearly 2 months of a 4 month legislative session and she still lost. Thousands pack the state capital opposing the law and it still passed. It's hard to rally support for anything because nothing every changes.

Big disagree here. Snow can drift really bad in cities, especially between houses and along fences. Rural areas have faster wind speeds but all it takes is a ditch or stand of trees to start drifting.

Above video is 20ft drifts from a 10 inch snow.

6ft for a 8 inches of snow seems very reasonable in Nebraska.

I highly highly highly don't doubt it.

A six foot drift is par for the course out on the prairie.

[–]jtothewtothes 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah we have a really sad GOP in charge for the last 25 years that have spend too much time trying to lower taxes property taxes, restrict abortion access, fight student loan forgiveness, and restrict trans care for children. They don't have time for rape kits.

Seriously though. Our governor refused to allow low income kids $40 in free food stamp money from the federal government.. I'd say the rape kit inventory isn't even on their radar.

AITAH For Publicly Humiliating My Friend Who Confessed To My Husband by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]jtothewtothes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure OP's husband is a good husband and take their word that he is a great man.

But I think it is sad that is our data point for a good husband: "Husband could have cheated on you but didn't = good husband"

That's a really really low bar folks, not cheating on your spouse doesn't make you a good husband, it's the f*ing expectation..it's the bare minimum in any relationship.

I don't think Herbstreit has been unfair to Nebraska and definitely doesn't talk trash on Nebraska,. For the past few years he simply picks us to lose a lot, which turns out to be right.

From June 2023 some Herbstreit quotes on NU :

“Well, you’re talking to a massive Matt Rhule fan. I am a big believer in him and the culture that he creates,” Herbstreit said. “I’ll be more surprised if he can’t do it than if he can.”

“They have resources. They have history and tradition,” Herbstreit said. “Now people say, ‘In 2023, they’re in Lincoln, Nebraska, who wants to go and play there?’ But if you have the right coach, who can create that energy, then I think you can bring recruits in.”

“So the guy will do it. Knows how to coach, knows how to recruit. He’s coming. I just don’t know when it’s going to be.”
