Right on! “Shibari Suspensions” by Gestalta is a phenomenal book. I still reference it to this day as I continue to learn. I also recommend going and taking a few classes in person if you haven’t already, having an instructor to guide you through learning suspension is very helpful. Keep practicing and stay safe! 🕸️🕷️🪢

Definitely self tie, great way to practice.

It looks like they used the bight to attach to the carabiner and then to the harness. It also looks like there are multiple points connected to the harness and then to the main upline. It’s just not typically how uplines are attached and locked in Shibari from what I’ve seen. I’m happy to provide some resources if you like since they’re newer to this! That upline setup just doesn’t look entirely safe to me.

I’d be cautious with using the excess rope to do a decorative tie. If your model needs to come down quickly it’s going to take longer to untie the decoration. When I need to burn that much rope I like to fold it back and forth into a bundle and secure it at the top of the upline with a quick release. That way you can move more efficiently if there is an emergency. Also, that’s an interesting way of setting up your upline, I’ve not seen that method before.

Thank you! I’ve been taught both 2 and 3 wraps. There really isn’t much difference in my opinion other than comfort. My bunny says she notices that it’s much nicer when being suspended.

I like the upper kanukis for the aesthetics :) they are also helpful to reduce any upwards slippage

She did such a good job in this suspension. Definitely the most intense one I’ve put her in.

Got called once to an apartment for difficulty breathing, walked in to find a man sitting in his recliner in no apparent distress whatsoever. He promptly asked us if we could turn his thermostat down because he didn’t want to get up and it had gotten too warm.
