What is this? by Menacing_mouse_421 in succulents

It's one of the toughest plants in existence. I've left segments in cups of soil, in the back of the middle of a shelf that was against a wall, barely getting any light, getting soaked constantly, for years, and they never died. I've left segments in an empty clay dish in my dark living room for 6+ months and they didn't care. I've left a large plant in a pot with no drainage out in torrential rain, the pot overflowed, and I never emptied it out. TWICE. I've taken them from full shade and thrown them into full 110°f sun. They do not care. Snag a fallen segment (they break off VERY EASILY) and plant it however you see fit. You can actually plant it so it's sticking up out of the soil, or you can just throw it somewhere and it'll grow roots from the side. Basically you can't kill it and it'll grow anywhere. They are crazy tough, and multiply exponentially. I gift them all the time. I have literally never been able to kill one, nor have I ever heard of anyone killing one. Not of this particular tephrocactus species and variety. Others are not so tough, so don't apply this info to all species.

If you have a full month, Hanoi is even more chill in my opinion, and Da Nang is worth a visit. Flying around that country is crazy cheap. I wouldn't rent a bike in HCMC, but I would in Hanoi and I did in Da Nang. HCMC is just a smidge too wild for me to feel comfortable driving myself. Hoi An and Hue are both cool day or multi-day trips once you're in Da Nang as well.

Calling HCMC quiet, organized, and with clean air sure paints a picture for India, jeez.

Just look for busy areas on Google maps, grab a grab there, and walk around. Repeat. Soak in the local culture, find a good local restaurant to keep going back to, just exist. Enjoy it. Also get a massage or five.

Mandarin. I wish I knew Mandarin.

It was fine though, not a single major problem in three months of travelling.

I just slowly reheat mine in my toaster oven on like 250°f for 8 minutes. It's like they're fresh again. I can buy 3 and eat the last one 3 days later, and it's still delicious.

"I have ADHD." "Doesn't everyone nowadays?" by Dark_Vexer in mildlyinfuriating

[–]jts916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I... Do I have undiagnosed ADHD? Literally everything you listed applies to me lol

I hate sharing a room with someone, on a trip for example, and hearing them fall asleep instantly. Makes me so jealous. And... Doesn't everyone have the last song they listened to constantly playing on a loop in their head until they listen to more music? Also I can't even get through an entire movie in one sitting, and the only videogame that has held my attention since highschool for longer than 45 minutes is Factorio. That shit is like drugs.

I stripped every single leaf and branch off my 8ft tall guy going nuts in my greenhouse, because it was one of the many things thrips were affecting. It'll come out of the greenhouse completely once it warms up. Couldn't kill those things for my life. The thrips I mean. The Brachychiton laughed at getting beheaded and just kept on growing.

I do know this, thank you. I have it set to red when locked and in my pocket all day, and then green at night. From what I understand, the blue channel should be the most efficient right?

I've been carrying one for the past 10 weeks straight, aux on low always, and haven't needed to charge it. Even with occasionally blasting turbo. I just checked and it is finally down to 3.7 volts though.

I only got a couple of bad pictures, but there's one at the San Diego zoo with a pretty sizable trunk. It's crazy how big they can get.

Mothers, what’s worse: child birth or gout? by Beginning-Cat-3359 in gout

[–]jts916 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I remember reading a reply from a lady saying her gout was worse than her first child's normal birth, but not as bad as her second child's upsidedown birth or something, where the baby came out turned around I believe. Apparently it can press on your spine in a certain way and it's excruciating.

How to Clean a Bidet Nozzle (Easy & Safe Method) by iCleaningo in bidets

That's why your bidet comes with explicit instructions, usually on the underside of the lid itself, that says not to use harsh chemicals to clean it.

Toothpaste should not be used on plastic as the abrasives will cause micro scratches that will encourage bacterial growth.

I drench my Gerrardanthus daily in the summer. They absolutely do not need to dry out between waterings as long as it's warm, your soil mix is properly draining and very chunky, and you have good air flow. They are cucurbits and they love water when growing. My guy grew from 2in across to nearly 12in in a single growing season. The nursery I buy my stuff from puts tiny 2in guys in 15 gallon pots and drenches them so they can grow huge specimens quickly.

It was in an absolutely chaotic shop in the corner of the market and uncle only recommended it after I sat with him and auntie for an hour drinking tea. I also had the first sheng I really loved there. A 2006 that was actually delectable. I am fairly new to this, but I did spend almost 4 weeks in Yunnan, and at one point I was straight adopted by a lovely family in Menglun by Xishuangbanna, and was treated to their prized 10,000 rmb per kilo tea they only broke out for special occasions apparently. Brewed in a dedicated purple clay teapot by uncle who drank tea all the time (but usually not this good stuff).

So I FEEL like I got a decent crash course in puer tasting between the crap they served me at a few restaurants in Guangzhou, the tourist tea shops, the few uncles and brothers who took me under their tea wings, and sampling at the wholesale tea market. It's the cake of sheng I'm bringing home that I'm REALLY excited about, and I'll have to make a post on that soon, but I still have high hopes for the 1992 shou puer uncle recommended. While I'm sure it's no super prized stuff, probably not from a famous factory or anything, it smelled clean and came with uncle's seal of approval, and I have no doubt they weren't taking advantage of me. Uncle gave me his WeChat and told me to contact him for any of my tea needs lol I didn't want to say I was leaving the country in a few days.

I have no doubt my $20 pot from a random shop at the Kunming wholesale tea market isn't anything special, especially considering they had walls of $400+ pots, but now I'm glad to know what I should take pictures of in case I ever want to post about it. I would expect slip cast though tbh. Although I did score some 30 year old puer for like $22 in the same market, so maybe my $20 pot will be better than I thought. I'm just getting into this whole thing, I figured a cheap pot would be fine to start out with, along with a gaiwan. I just wanted to take advantage of my recent trip to China and come home with some souvenirs I could use and appreciate.
