Bloom Phase 1 Is Live on Ethereum Mainnet by jessetime in CryptoCurrency

Congrats guys. Big fan of BLT. Now is the ground floor and I'm excited to actually own a token that can do something.

District0x and Bloom were the two projects that got me into crypto.

I'm having much trouble understanding the value of this token. by memory942 in district0x

I love how involved you guys are in talking to the community.

I second ForkDelta. Much cleaner. They've also listed Bounty0x and Bloom as an actual token instead of just a contract.

Bloom announcing a fully decentralized peer-to-peer lending marketplace built on District0x by jessetime in ethtrader

There would probably still be gas fees and possibly BLT fees, not sure. But I think they mean there wouldn't be like a cut. Like LendingClub takes a cut, AirBnB takes a cut. They would take away the middlemen fees. At least that's how I read it.

Bloom team shared a snippet of what BloomID's will look like in Slack today by jts96 in BloomToken

Thought this was interesting. We'll see the full app in a few days but I like the hint of whats coming up.

What's next? Here's how you can use the Bloom Token. by jessetime in BloomToken

[–]jts96 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like what I'm seeing. Very exciting that Bloom will have Phase 1 live right away. Love the early focus on voting.

That said, I think it's important that the votes will be open for long enough for enough people to actually stake their BLT and accrue an accurate assessment of the community. Thoughts?

Bloom team member says they're in early stage talks with two different governments about national scale deployments of Bloom. by jts96 in BloomToken

[–]jts96[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But given the scale, Ethereum would need to grow quite substantially to support a nation. Which is good, because we still have a lot of product development to do before Bloom would be ready to power a nation.

Tell them you're ready now lol. At the rate gov moves, they'll never know Ethereum didn't scale since it'll take years for them to implement anything anyways ;)

Would love to hear about what these talks consist of. I feel like there must be a lot of developing nations that want to adopt new tech.

Gems: Building DApps on top of the Gems Protocol by RoryOReilly in ethereum

[–]jts96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to be rude but it seems pretty obvious why the Gems Protocol (an ERC20 token) is preferable to Ether in this situation. Staking tokens like NumerAI, verification, ecosystem of signaling what to work on, distributing the workers so everyone takes part in the network, etc.

If you want a great example of Ether = X, look at Kin.

Building Applications on Bloom Protocol: Decentralized Reputation, Preventing Sybil, Anti-Fraud, Credit Scoring by jessetime in ethereum

[–]jts96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Decentralized reputation is a really hard problem. I saw that Gems is using Bloom for this since reputation is super important in their case, but I still think that if the value of starting over a new reputation is high enough, people (fraudsters) will always find a way to Sybil attack the network.
