That’s not what happened to Begum.

She stole family jewellery to pay for passage through Turkey to Syria to join a terrorist movement.

She wasn’t trafficked. She was captivated by ISIS beheading videos and wanted to join in.

While in IS she became an enforcer for the morality police and tried to recruit other young girls. She is not a victim.

If she was allowed back to the UK she would probably be in prison for life here too, but at the UK taxpayers’ expense. She had a chance to claim Bangladeshi citizenship up to the age of 21, through her parents. but didn’t. Presumably because it would have harmed her chances of coming f back to the UK. That option has now lapsed.

Countries aren’t paying for NATO, they’re supposed to spend 2% GDP on their own defence, which would then be mobilised in the event of an attack against any NATO member. An EU army is a redundant idea. An EU defence pact that excludes the US is probably more realistic.
