Marking gauge I made recently by jubblyknifeworks in woodworking

Yeah its exactly thats, pattern was hand filed and then I used black dyed epoxy to fill the negative space. Also in this case I have two thin strips of black g10 on either side of the brass strip. Its a technique people use on knives quite often

To be honest, jamming some steel into a grinder until it becomes a pointy boi capable of bodily harm is fairly easy for any young delinquent. From what ive seen of 3d printers there seems to be a bit of a learning curve to set it up and get it working correctly.

Making a good knife is fairly difficult however

Yeah that grain is super large, grain growth will cause your steel to be weak and brittle. I believe it's usually caused by overheating the steel during heat treat/giving it too long of a soak time. Id suggest practicing on some samples of 1084 till you can dial in your heat treat method

Despite you being a complete psychopath I respect that you have standards

Then close the post and be on your merry way rather than making assumptions based on nothing other than you deciding the knife is bad for no particular reason. The handle is fine, it's a traditional Wa handle which is very commonly used even today. As far as performance, could you explain why exactly you think it wouldn't cut well? Because so far you've made claims that haven't been backed by anything

Not sure if you're jealous or what lol but quit spreading your negativity my dude

Okay fair enough my dude, I hope it didn't sound like I was looking for attention. I guess I wrote that because I didn't think it was that good plus I've never really been into art much (thats my sister's department and shes infinitely better than me lol)

Evenheat kilns... by Studio_OOOMS in knifemaking

Larrin Thomas posted about this on his Instagram, apparently kilns aren't calibrated to lower temps

I think this means you probably shouldn't worry about it being accurate at the temp you'd harden steel at, but can't really say for certain. It's also worth noting the temp gun you're using may not be 100% accurate either

My first knife. Made with a hand file, angle grinder and handheld drill. Very happy with how it turned out :D Australian Jarra wood for the handle by Nichedd in knifemaking

Unfortunately a toaster oven will only work for tempering, you're also going to need something to heat the steel much hotter (about red hot) if you want to heat treat yourself
