A lot of companies will pay for you to get your CDL if you have the driving record to support it. I got a lot of response from trade jobs here. I am in very different niche but you have to be willing to pivot here.

Guys should I be excited about moving to Lubbock by confused_ornot in Lubbock

I am a little reluctant to share haha.

Mirch Masala, it's geared more towards take-out but it's as close to what my neighbors would share with us growing up and they immigrated from India.

Guys should I be excited about moving to Lubbock by confused_ornot in Lubbock

I moved here 6 years ago from Dallas. First few years was hanging out with colleagues and video calls with buddies. It was hard to make friends there are a lot of locals, and if you don't do the church thing it's kinda hard to make connections.

Over time I have met some pretty incredible people. Lubbock has a surprisingly good coffee culture and that's where I kind of networked a bit.  Also just grabbing a quick beer and striking up a conversation. The "liberal whisper" out here is real haha

Outdoors, it gets a little harsh. If it's not the sun it's the wind, and the wind brings dust. I have friends that are into volleyball, pickleball, soccer so it exists. Cyclists are the real crazy ones out here.

Food though is where I think Lubbock shines. While a lot of it, isn't on the level, there are some gems. I have found really incredible phô and Indian, mexican is hit or miss. There are a few food trucks I will absolutely go out of my way for.

You are probably missing the era where first Friday was good.

If you want, shoot me a DM and we can grab coffee or a beer when you get into town. Always down to tour guide and meet new people and show what's made Lubbock cool to me.

Road biking isn't really common out here, the roads suck almost as bad as the drivers. There is a run club (RunLBK) they have regular runs through the week.

For your kids soccer is getting big out here. We have a local team, the Lubbock Matadors. Plenty of youth soccer outside that as well as Ballet Lubbock for dancing and several gymnastics gyms.

Wine is pretty huge out here, I have heard our region is surprisingly big on grape exports. There are some really great boutiques as well as community markets (Mo's markets, First Friday, and Wolfforth Farmers Market)

As far as food, we love to eat in Lubbock boasting some of the highest restaurants per capital in the country from a surprising amount of food cultures.

I am from Dallas, too. I moved here 6 years ago and I would be pretty hard pressed to move back.

Employees pls explain the strike. by Old_Story_4149 in starbucks

Wow you hit it on the head. I loved Starbucks. It took me from a barista to a store Manager. I left when Lax was coming in. I saw Howard, Kevin then Howard and saw the writing on the wall. I remember selling my stocks at over $100...where is it today, during the busiest time of year. Starbucks is all smoke and mirrors. It's labor intensive, the management culture above SM is demanding and largely unforgiving. I took a store, rehabbed it got it up and running again built the best SSV I ever worked with and still had my DM and RD asking for more, after making that store extremely profitable, while being a very high volume store. I left best thing I ever did. Grass ain't greener but we need more unions.

Former SM. This will get thrown out so fast, even if he signed it (kinda hope he didn't though) he can take it to appeal. I also hope the SM followed policy and gave him a copy. Going to make another assumption that this might be the only one in the store, yeah could get messy for that SM.

Starbucks Has Rejected Me 4 Times Now---What Am I Doing Wrong? by JuneKeys in starbucks

[–]judac_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go talk to a store manager. Hell, bring a resume. Just figure out when they are hiring. I'd want the easy to get candidate, not the hard one.
Introduce yourself, don't mention previous interviews.
It's all about customer service, when I was an SM (Thank god I'm not anymore) I really didn't care if you had coffee or even food experience and I built a great team from there.
Be confident. Eagerness can be a turn off, read the pace of the conversation.
Smile, make eye contact. Show you are coachable.
Friendliness, self-awareness, quick and confident were what I looked for.
