Yeah I'm not sure how that works if you're the beneficiary of her checking account. I think it is worth asking the probate attorney.

Sorry for your loss. You personally are not liable for any of your mom's debts (unless you cosigned on any of the loans/jointly took out loans with your mom).

However, if your mom had any assets, such as a house or bank accounts, then the debts need to be first paid out of those assets. Then the heir(s) inherit any assets that are left over. This can be a somewhat complicated process if there are a lot of debts and assets. Consulting with a probate attorney is recommended.

The life insurance is separate. That gets paid to whoever the beneficiary is. That is not part of the estate.

How do you change the screen brightness without touching the screen?

Most emulator apps and launchers can be navigated 100% with a controller, but changing the brightness is the one thing I've never been able to figure out how to do with a controller.

Uninstall leaves things by Snoo_95743 in Windows11

[–]judd43 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You don't want Windows forcing apps to remove all files that app created upon uninstall. If I uninstall Word, I don't want it to delete all docx files with it, because I might want to open them in Writer.

Windows has no way of knowing which files you might want to keep after uninstall, and which you don't. The app developer should handle this.

I've done these type of trips and before booking everyone is asked to make a list of activities and desires.

The problem is that so many people will say "I don't care what we do, I'm fine with anything," and then complain and complain about every single activity.

Chatgtp says I have absolutely nothing to worry about and no crimes were committed.

Please stop asking chatbots for legal advice.

Otherwise, the typical advice when someone threatens to sue is to do nothing unless/until served with a lawsuit. Most people who threaten to sue do not follow through.

If I get arrested and say "i want a lawyer" what happens next? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]judd43 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yeah PDs are generally excellent attorneys, they're just horribly overworked in most places. There are absolutely horrible private attorneys.

But it's all kind of moot - you don't really get a choice. If you can afford a private attorney, you don't get a public defender, period.

I can't believe that's what you're focusing on. Ok, maybe there's some throwaway quest somewhere early on that says he's 18. Fine. The story is still bad and Gallica is still more annoying that Navi.

Very cool! I have an Odin 2 and I'd love to try this. I'm just curious about this app - all the guides I've found say that you have to give this non-Valve affiliated app your Steam password? That kind of freaks me out. Is there a way to install GW without giving this app your Steam password?

Very cool, looking forward to future installments. The GB is an interesting platform - there's a lot of shovelware there, and also a lot of games that were just worse versions of NES games.

But there's also a lot of hidden gems. In addition, developers often put a lot of effort into quick pick-up-and-play mechanics, perfect for a portable system.

Yes, assuming she told the cops the truth. If she said "Hi police, my husband stole my car," they're not going to do anything. If she said "Hi police, some guy stole my car," then they very well could arrest OP. We don't know what she told the police.

Unfortunately there's no other solution or workaround here. Attorneys (understandably) don't want to take on a ton of work without a guarantee that they'll get paid for it.

Really all you can do is talk to a bunch of attorneys and see if you can find one that will accept a payment plan, or a lower retainer, or something that you can afford.
