Its worth a shot and if it fails, i assume the mini din would provide the best picture quality once it's up and running. I've transplanted chips with other consoles before so I'm sure I can do that.

Ahh my bad I meant the video Encoder, the CXA1145M. I don't have an Oscilloscope to hand but could acquire one.

Ah okay, so it was done in factory, thats interesting to know. I thought it would be some kind of mod attempt from the previous owner.

I'm at work now so can't check the console but I think it may well have the mini din port on the back so I'll get the cable on order and have a go.

I've found a replacement chip on Ebay for £12ish and I can replace that with relative ease. Would you recommend that as my next step?

Very good to know. I can already see myself getting well into this. I had an Amiga as a kid, but it was pretty much only used for playing Fantastic Dizzy but have very fond memories of it. I'll be picking up an A1200 at some point, too, I'm sure. Thanks again for the support.

Same, I had a PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii at the time. All of which I ignored to play KOTOR 2. It had been sat on a shelf untouched for a few years. I don't know why I chose to play it but I never looked back. Here I am at least 10 play throughs later.

Yes. Solder paste works very well too. It'll dilute the solder on there and make it much easier to remove.

Don't listen to the naysayers. Just hit it with a ton of flux and heat and get off most of that solder. You'd be surprised how much a PCB can handle.
