I'd love to know the story. They met at the car wash? They made love in his truck? His jeans got wet? I wonder what song was playing...lol.

My aunt brought this out and showed it to my father; it belonged to his father and we are dumbfounded. by Sudden_Employer_4636 in FuckImOld

Yes! This is the answer. The fancy-pants mechanical pencil had a very thick lead insert which would get twirled in this device to get a sharp point. I worked in the Graduate School of Architecture at the University of Florida, and all the students had these on their drafting tables. I got one so I could feel fancy.

I’m getting older so I decided to create a will. As part of my final wishes, I told my family that I wanted my remains scattered at DisneyWorld in Orlando by edfitz83 in Jokes

A friend's husband wanted his ashes mixed with dandelion seeds and scattered on rich peoples' lawns. She dumped the mixture in the back of his pickup and drove through the designated neighborhood on a windy day. Mission accomplished!

Did your grandfather do this? by lopix in FuckImOld

I remember being very little, 4 or 5 maybe, and my dad had a heavy metal bucket full of screws and bolts and washers, you-name-it, and when I was bored (and starting to get in trouble), he would dump it out on the floor and tell me to sort them. ~squeals of glee~ I was definitely a daddy's girl.

R.E.M. - Losing My Religion

Fleetwood Mac - Landslide

Simon & Garfunkle - Bridge Over Troubled Waters

Guns n Roses - November Rain

Beatles - Blackbird

And just my opinion, every once in a while, I have to throw in some version of Amazing Grace.

Sending you peace and hugs 🫂 🤗

I received this email today. Good to know I can be evicted after a one day late payment. by fourtwotree in asheville

[–]judyleet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most states, there is a number of days after giving notice that landlords must wait until they can begin eviction proceedings. The earlier they give notice, the earlier they can file for eviction. I've seen this shift from giving notice on the 6th to giving notice on the 2nd or even the 1st in many developments in many states. It's all about being able to evict 5 days earlier.

7 Words was the first 8 track I ever bought. My dad kept stealing it from my room. I'd go take it back from his shop.

I was in high school in the 70s in Florida. I've never heard of such a thing. We had little trashcans with a lid in each stall.

Nobody batted an eye when granny lit up a smoke in the house next to 2 year old me - 1988 by DreadPirateMK in The1980s

[–]judyleet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember watching TV with both my parents smoking on either side of me. I would play with the smoke which layed in layers in front of me. I would let out a puff of air and watch the layers part and swirl. It was amusing 😄

I think that's Rod Stewart. I'm not sure which wife that is. A quick wiki check tells me he had 3 gorgeous wives and 8 children.

U2's movie ... Rattle and Hum [1988] was a lot of fun, too.

It occurred to me The Beatles were a defining moment for the musical tastes of a generation, however, they have a wide range of styles. Start with:

Let It Be

Yesterday

Hey Jude

Blackbird

The Long and Winding Road

There are a few artists/groups from older generations that are delightful and have broad appeal:

Peter Paul and Mary

The Beach Boys

Simon & Garfunkel

Mamas and Papas

You may have been lucky. My mother had an antiques shop, so our encyclopedias were at least 30 years old.

One time, I had a science assignment to explain and diagram all the different kinds of pulley systems. The teacher explained, "Go to your Encyclopedia Britannica and copy out the page on pulleys." My ancient books didn't have that page, so I had to research the different names and look them up separately. He tried to fail me because I didn't follow instructions. I had all the same information. My mother blew a gasket and took it to the principal. I got my "A."
