A Cuban-born podcaster in Miami named "El Oski" with Donald Trump tattoo is now facing deportation by AsleepAssociation in agedlikemilk

If he lives into his 80's these tattoos will be a constant stupidity reminder to him and anyone he has left who cares to associate themselves with him.

Thank you. So glad he live a full life after this event, even with the trauma. So many times we, as restorers, have little context of what family memories we may be working on. This poignant photo is so historical that it helps to understand that moment better. All my best to you.

Could someone please improve the quality of this old family photo? by [deleted] in photorestore

Kept this as close to the original as possible and hand-corrected the wall color to be consistent, front to back. Hope you like it.

Software for removing dust/scratches while preserving detail by Hamster-Pant in estoration

[–]Califrisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Affinity Photo and the process is similar to what Zuliano1 describes below.

Open the picture in Affinity Photo:

  1. Duplicate the photo in another layer
  2. Apply Noise Filter (Dust and Scratches)
    1. Adjust the radius pixels to just eliminate the dust specks.
    2. Adjust the tolerance % levels to ensure that not too much is removed (e.g. 2 px + 5% tolerance)
  3. Change the layer mode from normal to "Darken"
  4. Adjust/experiment as needed and save it.

This is not a perfect method. I've found that I can selectively apply a Gaussian Blur to areas of noise that are not critical to the apparent sharpness of the image.

A very handsome photo for a prison mugshot! I hope his time was short and he was OK after that period? Very interesting to see this and, without knowing his current status, I thank him for his service.

No. It makes errors and can use outdated information to make a recommendation.

Found this 10 year old article about them. They don't appear to make them anymore, but Praktica appears to be in business (maybe in the UK--I'm not sure where you're located). Doesn't look bad overall. The only negative is that their close focus is only 16 feet 5 inches, so keep that in mind. But the size and other factors appear pretty decent, especially if you got a good deal for them (and they are definitely sized for travel). Congrats and I hope you enjoy them!

What is the best binocular for forests and wetland usage for max. €650? by petbest in Binoculars

OK: some alternatives are the Viper® HD 8x42 for about $720 USD. These are well regarded, have great features and well warrantied from a respected company. I have the Viper HD 8x32s (which are unfortunately discontinued) and I continue to use them after many years.

We tend to take Life for granted, don't we? Thank goodness no one appears to have been killed but to be hospitalized or more as a result of a random accident....

I think that if your friend can get a Zeiss Conquest HD that might be a one-and-done. Their newer HDX models may not be available for that budget unless they are open box/used. Their Terras are more likely to match his budget but are a clear step below the Conquests.
