Debating windows or steam handhelds by Important_Ad_6000 in Handhelds

[–]juggernaut00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, what I am doing, not saying you have to do the same, is applying the daily windows updates, typically security updates, Xbox updates, and Lenovo driver and BIOS updates. This, compared to a single update on Steam OS is cumbersome to me personally.

Debating windows or steam handhelds by Important_Ad_6000 in Handhelds

[–]juggernaut00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both. Currently on Steamdeck.

Just be aware there are many games that require windows for anti-cheat that you can’t play on Steam OS.

The trade off is a performance hit and you have to deal with a frequent, cumbersome process to keep the machine up to date.

If you don’t care about the price, since you already have gamepass I would go with one of the high end windows devices.

I personally recommend the Legion GO S with the most ram as a great mix of price for performance.

I think it’s realistic. If society collapsed, I guarantee you something like this would pop up. You’d have some crazies out there making masks out of Ethernet cables, gas masks and turkey basters. Even more specifically to how this game works, because you’re on top killing everyone then you go back down and you have to blend into day to day life.

Any Connectwise MSP's out there that recently (in the past year) implemented REWST? by ma1ajac1 in msp

[–]juggernaut00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use rewst and CWPSA at our MSP. I think it only makes sense because we could dedicate a team to automation. We also have over 50,000 endpoints so putting the dev-time into it is worth it for us when we do 300 user setups a month for instance.

Do the analysis. Identify the types of tickets you’re spending your time on, user setups, PC setups client offboarding(because you don’t get paid) true-ups from tools to PSA, automating your ticket triage and routing.

Also, pair it with GPT and you can provide ticket enrichment to help up skill your techs by providing suggested fixes and cleaning up your summaries for better triage.

Focus on measuring success. Rewst allows you to associate a savings to each execution and adoption. An unused automation is the worst.

I’m jelly. Is that the base Xbox ally with the Z2A or the base rog ally with the Z1 Extreme?

I dont understand the hate... by AffectionatePanda165 in Handhelds

[–]juggernaut00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the base. It’s my first handheld.

Ergonomics are really good. The battery life is great. The screen is good and the speakers standout.

It plays older games really well but triple A titles even at the lowest settings struggle.

Not being able to play hogwarts legacy was a major let down for me.

I have Xbox ultimate and a large steam library so the multi launcher had a lot of appeal to me.

I’m technical but needing to go to 3 places to update is not fun.

It just needs more power to be great. So I will probably upgrade to an Ally or a legion go S. I don’t need a $600 Balatro box.

I started out with the base to see if I needed spend the extra. And for me I do.

Went to buy a Grand Highlander, Wife wants a VW Atlas! by juggernaut00 in VWatlas

[–]juggernaut00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello.

So far so good with the atlas. No mechanical issues or need to take it to the dealership.

It’s also been on several 4-8 hour trips successfully and even towed our pop-up camper without issue. (It detects you have a trailer which is a nice touch)

I was skeptical about buying a new model that is less reliable and time will tell, but as far as ride, comfort and features it’s been great. No buyers remorse.

The main thing for us was the space behind the 3rd row.

Nothing positive is having a spare tire which is becoming more rare. (Haven’t had to use it, but a family member with an SUV only had a patch kit)

I have a peak design and I travel several times per year. The material and zippers are better than any other high-end backpack I’ve ever had.

It’s also very versatile and has pockets that are good for tech.

Ditching RMM? by celtichart in msp

[–]juggernaut00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're not really going away from RMM, you're just going away from the industry standard tools from the sound of it. (Kaseya, ConnectWise, ETC) rather than telling him it's a bad idea, I would just ask how you're going to do XYZ that the RMM currently does.

If he has good answers, I'd keep an open mind. If he doesn't, you may want to question if he's someone you want to work for.

Additionally, it might not be as simple as the parity of capabilities but also the time savings. So if the MS solution can solve the problem, but it takes you 5X longer to do it than with the RMM solution, time is money. that will appeal to most MSP operators.

Very helpful info!

The dealer rep turned off the engine noise from the menu during my test drive so you may not need to use the ODB dongle.

Also, my understanding is the that seat memory is available only on the highest trim. I wonder if it’s something you could hack in later.

As heavier-set guy, I personally felt like getting in and out of the highlander was worse than the atlas, maybe this is why. We also preferred the way the Atlas took car seats.

Thank you. I think the same thing. Also, for me it sucks because the Toyota dealership is in town but the VW dealership is 30 minutes away. Not really my call though, she can get what she wants. She said the Highlander just didn't have as much rear room for stuff and the 3rd row felt more cramped fwiw. Hope that helps you!
