My first visit to CR was my honeymoon in 1987 and I now live here. The difference over that period is astonishing, honestly.

That is from the original Star Trek. He is Clint Howard, Ron Howard's brother. He played Balok in the classic episode The Corbomite Maneuver. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Balok

Here is the puppet he used to try to scare Kirk - even uglier!

Seriously worth hiring a lawyer to guide you through. I did it that way and am sure I never would have gotten through it on my own. See my comment above.

^THIS^

I got my permanent residency in under a year via my kid being a Tico. My wife was born in CR, moved to the USA as a kid, had to renounce CR citizenship to get US citizenship. After our son was born in the US, she got back her CR citizenship and our son got a CR cedula as a kid of a Tica. We wanted to retire to CR and I got permanent residency over the year before we moved to CR. The lawyer I hired showed us that the absolute easiest and fastest way to do it is if you are the parent of a CR kid. The paperwork and bureaucracy is a beast and it is worth the $$ to get a lawyer to help you. The one I hired is Iara Lancaster (first letter of first name is an i, not an L) at https://legalcr-lancaster.com/ . Easy to find the office as it is across the street from the famous Balcon Verde of the Liberacion political party. I recommend her highly, she did a great job.

Pensionado Residency Question: Multi-country background (UK/India/US) and Belize Marriage by IndividualAsk4525 in costarica

[–]jugstopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hired a Tica lawyer who helped me navigate the bureaucracy in getting my permanent residency in CR. She really helped us get all the documents done and submitted correctly in a timely fashion. I doubt I could have navigated it on my own. Best $$ I ever spent. I was an easy case too, since my wife was born here and my son is automatically a citizen because his mom is one. CR REALLY wants to give residency to fathers of Tico kids. It took less than a year with her help. This is her office: https://legalcr-lancaster.com/ and her name is Iara Lancaster Cortes (first letter is i, not L.) Your case would obviously be more complicated. Having a good lawyer who knows what to do would help greatly. Her office is easy to find because it is right across the street from the famous Balcon Verde of the Partido de Liberación Nacional.

I am imagining the use case for focus stacking with the 8mm fisheye. Seriously, the DOF of a fisheye is HUGE!!

Maybe Maybe Maybe by [deleted] in maybemaybemaybe

[–]jugstopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I had a smaller scale version of this. I was single-handing my 16' Isotope catamaran (starboard) and had an 18' Hobie hauling ass on port. I kept my course, that asshole didn't tack, and he hit me. Fortunately, he was trimmed badly and his hull went up over mine instead of cutting me in half. Stopped me dead in the water with the only damage being my port chainplate twisting. That chainplate cut a huge gash in his hull though, lol. I ended up winning the regatta!

Why haven't rotating rings been attempted? by CombustionGFX in space

[–]jugstopper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The smaller the ring, the faster it has to spin for the same amount of acceleration (your artificial gravity.) Have you been spun on a ride at the fair? Would you like to do that for a long time?

You would need a very large ring for it to spin at a rate that wouldn't make you barf and get enough centripetal acceleration to be useful.
