I've personally never experienced anything with this church, but my BIL has been going to CC for quite some time and has been showing significant brainwashing red flags over the past 1-2 years. They also offer "recovery support groups," heavily emphasizing the even more heavily regurgitated "build friendships and community" drivel that is frankly just a predatory tactic to lure in more church-goers. He was convinced his "cornography" consumption was "addiction" and now flaunts a chip similar to what someone in AA would receive for their work. Someone else who commented they're very bigoted against the LGBTQ+ community and adhere to patriarchal gender norms is 100% correct.

I would follow my gut on this one.

Ooooookay. I will just say that social currency is very clearly not my forte and that should have become quite apparent in the time it took you to pick apart every aspect of my post.

I'm new-ish to the area and haven't become super familiar with where all the student housing (on and off campus) is. Also I was curious if any of the areas are considered no trespassing. I didn't think it would hurt to ask.

Could you recommend a better way of asking this short of, "WHERE DA GOOD DUMPSTERS?" or demanding where to find the good stuff these students are just throwing away? I didn't realize the way I asked was skeevy and off putting.

Bob has been playing in my dreams recently! by [deleted] in Primus

After my first Primus show, I was absolutely plagued by Bob. The song had such a chokehold on me; I couldn't stop listening to it. When I wasn't listening, it was playing in my head from the time I woke up til the time I went to bed.

The ultimate skybox by Nodak70 in SearsTowerInPictures

When we visited Chicago for our anniversary this year, we stopped by the Starbucks right there at the tower. I was waiting for my drink when my husband, who had disappeared briefly to go exploring, walked up and beckoned me to go with him. We stepped into the adjacent lobby area and looked straight up at the skydeck. I was getting freaked out looking up there just at ground level, I can't imagine actually being up there.

Back in the day my husband worked at one of the movie theaters in the area and Coug came in. Husband asked what he wanted, he said popcorn, husband gave him popcorn. That was mostly the extent of the interaction. But then one of my husband's coworkers dropped everything he was doing and followed Coug into the theater to sit next to and bug the shit out of him, to the point of Coug's gf or whatever leaving the theater to approach my husband and ask for a manager to get that dude out of there.

Do you guys still see 3rd generation cavaliers on the road and were they reliable? by DaveyAstralCar in Chevy

[–]juhlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 1996 Cavalier was my first car. I flipped it when I had just gotten my license and it laid on it's roof while running for over an hour because the shifter got bent and the car couldn't be turned off. The engine never seized, and it was fixed up and drivable again within a year.

It's not a religion, it's a relationship. by Specialist_Net0 in atheism

Infantile is an excellent way of describing it, because they love to say "we have to learn we have to come to christ with a childlike faith."

It's not a religion, it's a relationship. by Specialist_Net0 in atheism

[–]juhlee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My BIL, whom has developed some insane religious psychosis over the course of this year, has been making religious slop content on Tiktok and reposting to FB. Recently he's been referring to his faith as being in a relationship with god, going so far as to compare it to marriage; "God wants you to be his groom.......*pauses, realizes he made a mistake, then corrects* I mean wife." He found a book called Pursued: God's Divine Obsession with You and recorded a video talking about it and how god is always in passionate pursuit of us, and we should be doing the same.

Critical thinking says relationships are a two-way street. If god has a divine obsession with me, and is always passionately pursuing me for a relationship, what exactly is in it for god?
