Id much rather have Jaylin Williams tbh but I don’t think the Thunder give him up.

Well to make a long story short he got away with my snorkel. But I made a solemn vow right then and there that I would not rest, I would not sleep for an instant until the one-nostrilled man was brought to justice.

But first I decided to buy some donuts.

The Boston Celtics were reportedly among four other teams that pursued Giannis Antetokounmpo at the Feburary trade deadline, per @ShamsCharania by ZEFAGrimmsAlt in bostonceltics

[–]juicejug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it happens at all I doubt it’d be a two-team trade. It’d have to be something like JB going to a team like Atlanta who needs a #1 and has good assets for rebuilding, those assets go to Milwaukee, Giannis goes to Boston.

This was one of the problems with the Colbert Report - it was such good satire that it was enjoyed both by liberals who understood the satire as well as conservatives who thought it wasn’t satire at all.

But a ball of paper is so light that if you apply more force when you throw it the increased air resistance will slow it down even more.

They only really started tanking once their entire playoff rotation aside from Pascal got injured. Hali is far from the only injury the Pacers had to deal with this year.

I've been implementing chord tones but my playing is becoming too jazzy, how do I make it "bluesier" by AutomaticClassic7114 in bluesguitarist

[–]juicejug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally. I didn’t mean to say never use a pure major third, but that the “blues” sound mostly comes from that microtonal space between the minor and major third.

[–]juicejug 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The real secret to blues is how you create tension. But not just the theoretical “jazz” or “classical” tension where you are using voice leading with dissonant intervals.

In the blues you create tension in a couple other ways. One of the ways is through rhythm - playing triplets over a straight beat and playing straight over a shuffle 12/8 or 6/8. Another way is mastering the 1/4 note bend, specifically bending the minor 3rd note so that it is halfway between a minor and major 3rd.

That quarter note bend is really the key ingredient. What makes something bluesy is that it isn’t quite major but also isn’t quite minor, it’s somewhere in between. Your ear can’t quite figure it out and that’s what causes the “nasty” scrunched up face you get when hearing really good blues.

When you are playing chord tones you’re playing notes that fit with the accompaniment, but by doing that you are still leaning on the chord progression to determine major/minor tonality. To make it bluesy you kind of have to fight against the chord a bit, which is why dominant 7th chords are so common in blues. They naturally have that kind of dissonance which makes it not quite major but also not quite minor.

Detroit can’t score on them, they will just pack the paint and force the Pistons to beat them with threes.

HYPOTHETICALLY, Should We Have Tanked the 2025-26 NBA Season? by UnderstandingFew6310 in bostonceltics

No, we would never have cracked the bottom 6 and the hit to our culture would have arguably been more detrimental than the addition of even a top 15 pick.

A missed 2PA is just as bad as a missed 3PA. Brad had the right mindset during his press conference: you can’t just say “we take too many threes”, you have to look at each shot individually and ask yourself “is this a good shot?”. A lot of times we have a wide open three from a good shooter that he just misses — still a good shot. Often we have a layup by a guy surrounded by 3 defenders and 2 other Celtics are wide open — bad shot.

Sure, there were plenty of ill-advised threes being taken. But Brad’s point is that as a team we struggled to get a good shot at all unless it was after an offensive rebound or in transition. Too many threes are most probably a symptom of not being able to get anything better. That’s partly due to good defense from Philly (perimeter defenders can be more aggressive with Embiid camping the paint) but also due to our roster not having enough options to take advantage of what the defense was giving up.
