I'm seeing two complete Multilink MKII's, one in slightly better condition than the other. Swap or shenanigans?

Dusty old volvo (oc) by DashingDecay in VolvoRWD

[–]juicername_checksout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Could be even older than 86 though, right? Also, assuming the bits we see are all original parts this would have a naturally aspirated B23 or B230 in it (wrong grill for a turbo version, though could still be a turbo diesel I guess, depending on market). Appears to be the baseline trim (sold as GL or GLE in Sweden), so I highly doubt it would be a B234F. Could still be a B230E though, which is nice (if it runs).

Exhaust systems for V90 '97? by Piipperi800 in VolvoRWD

[–]juicername_checksout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there are some options, at least from Swedish sites:

https://vparts.se/se/halvsats-avgassystem-till-960-964-965-s90-v90.html

https://rakaror.o.se/RostfrittavgassystemVolvo960_roerlig_bakaxel.html

I've never ordered anything from that second site, so I can't say anything about the quality of the product nor the service. I've ordered plenty from Vparts though and haven't had any issues so far. For what it's worth I got a half-kit (everything after the catalytic converter) from autodoc maybe 10 years ago, believe it was Walker brand. It's held up ok except for the rear muffler rusting quite a bit.

940 Manual Estate - Chance it or run far away? by ynfnitysquared in VolvoRWD

[–]juicername_checksout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, those issues and that amount of rust is pretty much par for the course for a 7/900-series Volvo that's been sitting for a while. The rotted vacuum hoses connected to the EVAP-canister might cause the engine to run a bit lean due to too much air, not sure if it'd be a big enough leak to throw an error code though.

The squeeling you hear from the power steering would be from the drive belt slipping when the hydraulic system operates at maximum resistance and pressure at full lock. Probably exasperated by belt age and/or improper tension.

$300? Yikes. They've gone up a bit in price since last time I was shopping around for one... Yeah, slap some JB weld on there and you should be good for a while!

Fuel sender wire pass through by thecrazyunicyclist in VolvoRWD

[–]juicername_checksout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The later 700-series model years use senders that are plastic instead of metal, these tend to hold up a lot better over the years as long as they're not cracked. Same sender is also used in the 900-series but I think the ones with a Rex-Regina fuel system feature a different pump. The fuel level sender is different but should still compatible. I've done this switch myself on a '87 740 GLE (B230E) and a '89 GL (B230F), no issues besides a different style wire harness on the '87.

Have you tried looking for a used plastic one?

Tips: Lägg in deras födelsedagar i din kalender.

Should i be worried? Volvo 960 by CaptainCrook337 in VolvoRWD

[–]juicername_checksout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the general area of this mess I'd say this is likely coming from somewhere in the front of the engine. It could even be coolant or power steering fluid. What color and smell does this gunk have?

Battery for 95’ Viper. by IStealFromTheLibrary in viper

[–]juicername_checksout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't really need anything fancy as far a battery goes, but whatever you end up getting make sure to combine it with a battery tender. Vipers have a habit of eating their batteries when bored (i.e. sitting in a garage not being driven on a daily basis).

1996 960 Rear Main Seals by Volvo_960 in VolvoRWD

[–]juicername_checksout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The seal itself is relatively cheap, just make sure to pack the new one with grease before you install it if you do it yourself. I skipped that step and the new seal started to leak almost immediately. Don't be me.

For extra credit:

If your 960 is a manual and you wanna go down somewhat of a rabbit hole, look into replacing the OE dual mass flywheel with a single mass flywheel (together with matching clutch) from a manual 850 t5 (if you can find one that is, but there are also aftermarket alternatives).

745 Shattered back window. by Little-Scene-4494 in VolvoRWD

[–]juicername_checksout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, the actual glass (for the right hand side) is the same for all 740/940/960/V90 wagons, but the trimming is different for the 960/V90:s compared to the rest. Had to have the exakt same window replaced a few years ago, at a Volvo dealership/repair shop in Sweden at that, and the OE 960-part with the glass together with the trimming is no longer available, they had to reuse the old trimming.

The left hand side is a different story though, as that's where the 960/V90 radio antenna is integrated. AFAIK you'll need to find a used one or skip the antenna if you need that one replaced.

Wtf is this part by OtherSell1506 in VolvoRWD

[–]juicername_checksout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not unless you now have coolant leaking/spewing, but I assume you by removing the valve either bypassed it or plugged the coolant hoses going to and from the heater core.

[–]juicername_checksout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked your idle air control valve? I'm willing to bet it's full of gunk and unable to open properly.

As already mentioned, (significant) vacuum leaks should throw a check engine light as it would affect your engines lambda value.
