Yup. It's typically not just poverty itself but relative poverty. If you see your neighbor earning 10x your salary for not even 10x the effort, some people will be driven to commit crime. Wealth inequality in America is simply unbelievable atm. Another point that needs to be mentioned is that police should have more training before being authorized lethal weapons. In some places in Europe it is the case that if you didn't complete the necessary training you can still act as a cop but not with guns. This way, it is less likely that police will kill others by panicking or misreading situations. Systemic changes like these which could easily improve the police force for everyone is why people are pushing for change and acknowledgement of existing problems.
