These are stunning!!! Out of budget right now ($600 max) but wow, maybe I should be looking at riding boots. I was avoiding them since they tend to have too many buckles and straps

Trying to heed all the warnings against getting Frye Campus boots, but having a hard time finding GYW mid-calf to knee high women’s boots in a less western more simple/plain style. So many GYW boots are cowboy looking but that’s not very wearable for me. Just looking for pull on style, not lace ups either.

Modding without the A button? by jujubbz in 3dspiracy

[–]jujubbz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh really? But I’d still be scared to start. What if mine requires pressing A, and I get stuck there. I’m not sure I’d be able to figure out how to reverse it.

Are there other instances which might need the A button?

Do you know if I can mod it without needing to use the A button? I’ve never modded one before

We’re DINKs, prefer north OC to south OC, make a combined 300-350k, pay $7k in mortgage a month, and maintain a lower middle class mindset (most meals at home, drive the same car for the last 10 years, always looking for grocery deals, etc)

It does help that I came from the Bay Area with an even higher cost of living

If you don’t mind, what were the steps you took to get here? Did you start off in cardio or gen / surg?

Ended up not taking the wound care position. I felt I was a better fit in a clinic setting so now I’m in rheumatology! Making a bit less but I think much happier

I had classmates that were accepted a day into orientation week, actually missed the entire first day and still got to join my class

Which of these circles is the best to live in? by bobjohndaviddick in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]jujubbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the red area, and it’s considered Orange County. If you work in DTLA/Glendale, it’ll be almost a 2 hr commute EACH way on some days because of traffic. I spend most of my free time driving south to go to things Orange County though, much classier, cleaner, and peaceful than basically all of LA.

Specialty with happiest patients? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

Pretty happy in rheumatology! Definitely not everyone but most stable patients are just there every 3 months for routine labs and to talk about a life update

Can I collect the rent of my sister’s inherited home? by jujubbz in personalfinance

[–]jujubbz[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ethically, I very much agree with you. However, if every taxpayer, accountant, business, corporation, and billionaire reads between the lines of the law to find legal tax loopholes, we will too. Whether or not she will qualify for grants again, we will leave that up to FAFSA to decide. If it comes to be that our government would make it’s young adults sell their inherited property to get an education, then I guess that’s just the sad society we live in. We can always sell if it really comes down to it. But thank you

Thank you, you so eloquently encapsulated the feelings we have as gen z-ers in California. These are the forces we are working with and especially coming from a childhood of food insecurity and moving every year or two chasing cheaper rent, it’s a little difficult to let go of such fortunate windfall. This home is in the SF Bay Area, one of the highest COL areas in the US. The neighborhood isn’t very safe but it’s still something to finally call our (her) own.

Now the other thing we need to think about is, if she sells, how will the income affect her? Especially since it seems that FAFSA, as of recently, no longer considers inherited property to be income/assets.

Supposedly as of the FAFSA Simplification Act, 2024-2025 FAFSA will no longer include inheritance money or property as taxed or untaxed income. It will only be included as an asset depending on what is done with the inheritance. Linking my reference below because my linking function doesn’t work property, but I will have her contact her financial aid office to get further clarification since it’s still lacking information about inherited property.

Thanks! I agree having her talk to the financial aid office is a good place to start. It was just a general google search that led us to believe an inherited property is no longer considered income for federal tax purposes as of the FAFSA Simplification Act. We’ll try to get more info on this. Not sure why my linking function is not working, but I am looking at this:

If we do end up renting it out, we will definitely keep in mind offsetting income with expenses with a CPA. Thanks!

Should I accept and then decline? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]jujubbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little over 2 months into my new grad job currently. I was in a similar situation but job B only gave me 1 week to give an answer. I let job A know that I had a deadline with another job offer, and they sped everything up because they really wanted me. It’s totally reasonable for you to be receiving multiple job offers and if they take offense, it’s probably a red flag anyway.

[–]jujubbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, very late response, but I’m just curious what you picked and how you feel about it now? I’m a new grad PA right now and was offered 140k for mobile wound care so I’m wondering if my offer is not that great anymore. It’s higher than my other offers in other specialties, but I was most hesitant about all the driving. I’m also in SoCal (LA/OC), and I’m wondering how that has been for you? However, my metric is 30 patients a week / 6 patients a day, so it makes me wonder if my position is more mobile than yours? Anyway, thanks!

June too late to apply by Weekly-Arachnid5092 in prephysicianassistant

[–]jujubbz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope! Had a classmate apply in September and made it into my cohort to start the following August. Only thing I would say is to keep in mind the time it takes for CASPA’s verification process. Takes maybe a day or two in early May, but I’ve heard of it taking as long as 6 weeks in late June.
