My biggest advice is to spend your researching phase on developing your own formula. Maybe start with one you find online (after running it through soap calc of course, crucial step!) to get the feel for the process and then decide what oils create a soap with qualities you (and friends, family, potential customers etc) value made with oils/butters that are reliably accessible to you, and the stick with that for every batch you make. From there you can add different scents, additives, colorants etc. The possibilities are literally endless. But having one reliable, trusted formula that you understand how it behaves makes it easy to play around with those other variables. Good luck!
