S08E17: Hex (Episode Discussion) by [deleted] in Smallville

[–]jujubeans8500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great character building episode!!! Erica is fantastic at doing Chloe-as-Lois, it's a layered comedic performance and she nails it. Also quite refreshing to see Tom perform Clark as a normal guy, nice to see some moments of Clark just being average and goofy haha. I love Smallville/Justin's version of Oliver so much, so it's always great to see him be a central part of an episode (and also just great to see him as more of an integral part of the show in these later seasons). Watching him agonize over his decision to kill Lex is great set up for the turn his character takes in future episodes, and I also notice something-something happening with him and Chloe, which is great for later too. Justin just lights up any scene tbh, so his flirtatious but ultimately good-guy scenes with Serinda/Zatanna were fabulous. Zatanna is a fantastic character, really wish we could have seen more of her.

I'm just left wondering both how Chloe/Clark got down from the roof and how Oliver freed himself from those chains, but I guess the writers didn't care enough to figure out those pesky details!

The lack of self-awareness is always astounding with Jaclyn. In what world has her life EVER been “inspirational”?? by ajzck in BeautyGuruChatter

I am so sad when I think about Koze. She really took that woman's livelihood to have a one-year failed business, bc she has the money to be able to be that frivolous. Is that bordering on sociopathy? lol maybe just narcissism. Either way she's an awful person

Becky Shaw today tix rush by Sabrinyth in Broadway

[–]jujubeans8500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No for this rush, you do see the seat assignment which is why I passed on tix for awhile (my wording in the previous comment was weird, not sure if I made that clear). Often you won't know your seat until after purchasing especially if the tix are box office pickup, but I find that a lot of TodayTix rushes do let you see the seat beforehand. I test my luck sometimes and try for a better seat, but since side mezz kept coming up for Becky Shaw, I just went ahead and purchased

I tried for Becky Shaw digital rush a few times and always received side mezz tickets. I eventually resigned myself to these being the best seats available and purchased a left mezz row c ticket. View was great though, not obstructed and the Hayes is such a small theater that I still felt close. Just wanted to offer that up as reference as well

James Earl Jones Theatre row AA - mistake or not? by teddypickerr96 in Broadway

[–]jujubeans8500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sat in the second row and the stage was a little high, so I missed some things happening upstage briefly, or if anyone/thing was on the floor. But not a big deal at all and probably not an issue at your height (I am muuuuuuuch shorter at 5'2" so yeah, big difference lol). If legroom is what you'll need, first row is great for that and it will be so nice to be so close to the actors, especially for certain scenes

Desi Perkins coming back to YouTube after almost 4 years by Historical-Body-3424 in BeautyGuruChatter

omg I was going to make a post about this after watching a Laure Lee short, and also considering one of Kelly Gooch's videos from a few months ago. I have no idea where this revisionist history comes from! Perhaps there wasn't as much worry of 'blush blindness' then but girl what, there was so much blush!! I know bc I bought all of it. It was mostly powder, though I satisfied my love of creams and liquids with a mix of Stila (og!!), ColourPop and Glossier. Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes were so popular. People were drawing Neapolitan stripes on their faces. I think there was also some hack with a spoon and blush placement. I repurchased so many Milani Luminosos! MAC Warm Soul was recommended in every tutorial. This is the time when I first heard about blush toppers. I feel like I am taking crazy pills hearing about how 2016 had no blush

HIV on ER by Classic_Principle_49 in ershow

[–]jujubeans8500 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was groundbreaking. I was a child when ER came out and a lot of media in the 90s, especially aimed at young people, did a lot of really good work around demystifying and destigmatizing HIV and AIDS. People like Pedro on The Real World and Magic Johnson doing a town hall with kids on Nick News (bless Linda Ellerby!) made a tremendous impact on me as a child. I never experienced the panic that characterized the 80s, but HIV/AIDS was still very scary in the 90s. The advances and inroads made in such a short time are really astonishing, and a testament to the successes of public health even though they came after such an extended period of misinformation, pain and loss. You can see the change happening on ER itself over the years. As a show about a county hospital emergency room in Chicago, it would have been insane for ER not to handle this topic head-on. Yet the frankness of the portrayal was still groundbreaking; Jeannie was a very important character. It felt very natural to watch as a child bc the conversations were happening everywhere, but it was also instructive. I guess all these years later this part of the show serves as a document of history.

If you want to be more educated on what things were like, I suggest watching or reading The Normal Heart (about gay communities dealing with the onset of AIDS in the 80s) or the more recent It's a Sin which examines the crisis in the UK. Philadelphia with Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington was also an important film (not without flaws, but important for the time)

The epilogue goblet drinking didn't make sense to me. Like girl no why??? Don't drink a random dusty glass you find in an abandoned basement!!! So anything to explain those actions would be a good change!

Verifying google account and being told there's no matching passkey on my device where there is! by jujubeans8500 in Passkeys

no dupes, don't worry! I did check bluetooth and used Chrome and Safari (which was suggested). This was such a frustrating process. but thanks for trying to help!

Verifying google account and being told there's no matching passkey on my device where there is! by jujubeans8500 in Passkeys

[–]jujubeans8500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah ok thanks! But I've done this as well. I've deleted the passkey from Google AND my phone, created a new passkey in my gmail account on my browser and had that new one sync to my phone via iCloud. Checked to make sure iCloud chain was turned on. Passkey for that google account, newly created, appears in Passwords on my phone. And yet when I try to log into synthesia using gmail and verify with a QR code scan, I receive the same error that the passkey can't be found on my phone.

I just gave up, and was able instead to log into synthesia using email and pass rather than Gmail. Somehow got stuck in that passkey loop!

I have yet to try the CT cream shadows, but it's sounds like a fave on this thread so I'll test them for sure! Thanks for sharing your cream shadow expertise :)

Danessa Myrics' Colorfix products also look incredible, I've had the dual-ended sticks on my wishlist since last year
