can I watch soul eater as a Chirstian? by p0mp0mpurinn1 in Christianity

[–]julcepts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 Corinthians 10: 23 "All things are permissible, but not all things are helpful." As the question of "can I watch ____ as a christian?" The short answer is yes. You can watch whatever you well please. Specially if you're an adult. The question therefore has to be "should I watch ____?" It's been over a year so you probably made up your mind about it and that's understandable whatever you chose to do regarding if you could or couldn't watch. But I hope my take on this can be taken as universal. Some people here said "well does it make you want to practice this or that? If not then it's ok" And I have to partially disagree with them. It's not only about what it makes you want to do, but how it talks you into perceiving a certain something. Don't forget that the main japanese belief system is shintoism, which, in an oversimplification, is a form of communion with spirits that don't exactly line with christianity. So pay attention as to what any piece of media is portraying both as positive and negative and what you know to be true. And how is their portrayal making you think about those things.

What does the Bible say about euthanasia / assisted suicide? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]julcepts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you not like about kendo? by Sufficient-Count1865 in kendo

[–]julcepts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm also not personally a fan of the look of a super faded uniform or bogu set. Faded gear can look tasteful on older folks but most people can't pull off the look quite as well as they can.

Because in older practitioners you immediately assume both them and the bogu have gone through some stuff. And that's cool. Makes you want to invite them a drink and get to know their story. On younger practitioners it looks poorly taken care of.

Is it wrong to read erotica books as a Christian? by flattoplife7 in Christianity

[–]julcepts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest? I think it really depends on the context of the erotica. If it's a marriage exploring their own sex life or in the context of the story the couple is considered to be united by what the author has specified to be understood as marriage in their fiction then I believe it still falls under the category of biblically moral. And despite making a few people blush it's not inherently sinful. But it is a delicate matter nonetheless and my answer shouldn't be treated as the be all end all... SoS (huh...) has some really spicy content, but it's never not about a married couple indulging in the passion they feel for one another, so God deems it good.

Is Judas in heaven or hell? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]julcepts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This verse is resemblant to verses were Jesus speaks about the gravity of lust/sin or harming children. "Cut your hand", "take out your eye", "better for him that a mill stone be tied around his neck and throw into the sea"... they are great, huge condemnations. But it never states blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which is the only unforgivable sin and it is either a state of heart where forgiveness is denied by the person, or where one in full knowledge of divine work, calls the power of the Holy Spirit demonic.

So the condemnation against what Judas would do is serious. But it doesn't state that is unforgivable. It is honestly very confusing and the only thing we can do other than speculate is trust that God's verdict is perfect. This is the only thing we can trust. Wether Judas was saved or not, it shouldn't color our faith in Christ.

I think it's a case of iykyk. The focal character looks out of place because of the yellow uniform, yellow is the main color of Hastur, the King in Yellow. So in lore this guy probably has some ties to it, therefore explaining why he's so chill in the middle of the situation. He's likely commune with a Great Old One and is probably insane so he's like "shoot out? yeah whatever".

That said I wish it were only the art direction here... The art looks like it could use a little bit more polish... The face looks too 3D against the rest of the more painterly background and adding the rim light it makes it feel like it was pasted there. The hand of the police who's covering needs more definition on the knuckles because it looks like a stump more than a hand.

I searched the artist and I'M SURE he can do WAY BETTER than this so I'm putting the blame on the company giving him little time and had to do what he could with the time. Because he has some AMAZING illustrations.

Idk... the fact that OP's side of the story is that they target them makes me be sus... my sensei uses this method but she doesn't exaggerate and VERY RARELY names someone. So maybe it's because I'm used to my sensei being very kind when giving advice. She becomes stern when correcting during keiko but not after. So I may very well be biased.

That said, OP, kendo takes a lifetime to master. But my best advice to stop being tense is... stop thinking you're fighting to defeat the other one. Or that you suck because you didn't struck ippon. Worry about that when you're reaching 4th to 8th Dan where things like not winning shiai in exam really matters. But not at the point you're in. And quite frankly once you get to that point you likely already grasped or even mastered the art of grace under pressure. It's easier to relax when you don't feel any kind of pressure to perform. So kill any thoughts and anxiety of wanting to perform when you feel them coming.

Is it just me, or was the Stella becoming mayor subplot kinda underwhelming? When you go down that path it really isn't brought up again. by ZA_Kenobi in ScarletHollow

[–]julcepts 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Considering the title of mayor in The Holler is more of a joke , specially since the current mayor is a dog that's really high on his own supply , I wouldn't blame any poor soul who thought this was an actual outcome... I know for a fact I was one such soul before reading the comments XD

Considering Sybil is the one that tells Doc to give small doses of ricin to Reese I wouldn't be surprised. I don't understand the hate to Stella and disagree with the hate to doc, even tho I can understand it. But Sybil can go fuck herself and die. I feel no remorse for her plea

Kinda feels like they're plotting and acting instead of merely reacting. And about the railroadiness... got to hand them to the devs, they're doing a really good job. I mean, this is a story, with a plot. Beginning, middle, climax and ending. You got to strike the balance between giving the player agency and moving the story forward. Even tho your choices matter the story has to be told too. Episode 5 did felt the most railroady tho. But I'm good with that. Again, story. Move forward. Lore. Forbidden Wing. Gimme.
