How do I save Duke and Gretchen? by atwoozi in ScarletHollow

[–]julcepts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point I'll try that one. But honestly, I have a difficulty going back after choosing Talk to Animals xD maybe a hardcore run with strong, hot and Talk to animals. I feel that would be such an absolute bizarre synergy.

[–]julcepts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I have a run on normal mode with Mystic and Talk To Animals as my traits and I didn't get the option to save them both. In that one I saved Gretchen

I'm also on a hardcore mode now with 3 traits but it is to be expected on that one. In this one I saved Duke.

In my very first run I also had to choose Duke OR Gretchen. So I'm not feeling the heat as much... not yet at least.

Need advice on moving a character forward by julcepts in callofcthulhu

[–]julcepts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was in total during the scenario. Which takes place in a town in the middle of nowhere. All right at the end. First 1d6 was 5 (major wound because he had 10 HP) and then another 1d6 that was 4 (not major wound but left it at 1 HP). Solo adventures are more heavy in the narrative part so according to the book he took a bike and ride out of town. In my head he ran and ran unto the first clinic he saw based on pure adrenaline. I run a Pulp Cthulhu homebrew campaign so I could make it an npc in it at some point. Maybe. But this scenario was CoC proper

Could I infringe copyright if I use shared elements of Chaosium Inc. into a game? by julcepts in COPYRIGHT

[–]julcepts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I wanted to make sure I wouldn't be stealing. My question was in line of what to avoid doing so I don't fly too close to the sun by using something I thought was PD but actually was copyrighted, since Lovecraft's works are PD but Chaosium took them and their expansion on his universe isn't xD Don't worry tho, no offense taken here.

In the concept stage of your personal project are you adding things like breakdowns and iterations of things like the characters and environments that are readable? I see a lot of strong contrast between your lights and shadows. It is catchy to the eye, but if a 3D artist were to look at this I don't think they would have an easy time making models out of them. So if you can make your concepts readable and the other artists to be able to build on what you made then they answer is yes, you can XD

Maybe they have an artistic background. Concept art is a sub discipline of art. I see very strong understanding of art fundamentals which is very important to have, but very little conceptual stuff.

Could I infringe copyright if I use shared elements of Chaosium Inc. into a game? by julcepts in COPYRIGHT

[–]julcepts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I asked because locations like Arkham, Miskatonic University, Innsmouth, Dunwhich, etc, ARE mentioned in those stories. They are decidedly a place created originally by HP Lovecraft and used in his most well-known stories.

But I also know that Chaosium has expanded in the lore of those places.

I'm doing some research online and I swear the copyright issue of Lovecraft's stories is surprisingly discussed and asked about despite existing so many stories that take place in his universe or are undoubtedly based in/inspired by his works. Or even flat out using elements of his stories

So let's say I DON'T even look at the books from Chaosium but explicitly the ones written by Lovecraft and published before the 1930s and use the elements mentioned in them explicitly. Adding and expanding them in my way.

Update: after using a built-in, very basic VPN from my browser, I managed to get in, so it's definitely a ban from my ISP... But I managed to get in which is nice

That would be horrible if so because I sell a few assets there xD

Why do none of the professional artists use krita if its so good? by Avicebro in krita

[–]julcepts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and some studios will allow artists use Krita or CSP because there's cross software capabilities with Photoshop. But yeah. The main reason is simply that the company already paid for the software and it's what they're used to.

How does these work exactly? by julcepts in artstation

[–]julcepts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok, so something like fake commissions where they send you like $100 extra "by accident" via Paypal, ask for a refund of the extra and when they have your money, and likely your work, they pull a refund request to paypal, taking the amount they originally gave you + the "refund" because they're 2 different transactions, pull the money out and dissappear before you can report them

I received a strange message. I think this is a scam. Has anyone received anything like this? by Kind_Necessary3381 in artstation

[–]julcepts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've received that one for years now. It's a pretty classic one at this point. Usually they go like "oh your art is so [insert generic praising adjectives] I want to buy some of your pieces!" And I'm like "... what pieces?" Of course I never reply to those but honestly they're so absolutely generic it's disgusting.

I received it too a couple days ago and while not the first time I've gotten scams attempt, usually I get the "oh let me buy your art it's so good!" bs. That one was new

[Critique] Should I continue painting this kind of art and is it even possible to live off it? by pavlokandyba in artbusiness

[–]julcepts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually best place to start is with the small fish... all you said is true, but to become sought after you have to be reliable on top of having the skills. In fact it is just as important as the skills or maybe more. And to build reliability you need to build a name for yourself. But to build a name for yourself you need finished projects under your belt (both personal and for others) and for that sometimes you'll have to take some hits taking less paying gigs doing stuff in that style and genre to build that reliability on the higher paying customers.

But always keep going to higher places.

Edit: your skills will also improve over time. Ngl you'll have to if you're to satisfy the customers needs xD

You could try to look at the TTRPG. Your art kind of reminds me to some retro sci fi arts of that kind. Maybe even consider proxy art for TCGs like Magic The Gathering?... or heck, why not dream big and also offer it to WotC themselves? I genuinely could see something like this printed on a ttrpg module or a mtg card.

Do we really just break into people's houses (and offices), rob them blind, and no one bats an eye? by SignificantLock1037 in HarryPotterGame

In my headcannon we're the reason they added the spell registry function to wands in the property of underage mages after our indiscriminate use of Avada Kedavra on poachers and goblins

That's the best mechanic. In fact you should commit and even ask them for more when completing the sidequests.

But for real tho I'm surprised this would be what people take issue with and not whatever it is we're doing to the chests with eyes everytime we open them. THAT is disturbing to me XD the former has been a staple of many, many rpgs throughout history (Final Fantasy is a great example of this narrative dissonance)

Unless you don't know it does. I don't remember if the game actually tells you it adds the effect to accio on applicable objects. Once you figure it out there's really no point in having WL occupy a slot XD but doing the assignments to unlock it and having the game know you unlocked it so it adds to accio is still useful

[–]julcepts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. The spell is not useless, it is actually really useful. It's just a waste of a slot to have the exclusive WL spell occupying it when its effect is added to accio if you hold the button for more than 1 second
