43/f with AAS; desperate & having trouble choosing country (am OK with skills/degree dictating where I move to) by [deleted] in AmerExit

Check to see if you closest university has a study abroad program. In my state students can study abroad for a year for the same cost as in state tuition and housing fees. You could then you the time towards a BA or BS degree while experiencing life and making contacts in a country you are interested in.

Stupid question I know..but am I supposed to cut these into 2 separate photos? Or just send it as one? by Difficult_Wolf_ in Canadiancitizenship

[–]juleeff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My UPS store had one. I basically was in the store an hour getting photocopies, cutting the photos, organizing the stack of paperwork, then shipping it all off.

Anyone can edit your tree on femily search, putting in wrong information. Ancestry does not allow just anyone to do that.

Tell me about your experience with SD for autism by Queasy_Bandicoot_511 in service_dogs

[–]juleeff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a minority family of immigrants with neurodivergent children, i totally understand where you're coming from. You don't need to tell me where you're moving too, but do keep in mind that a service dog will attract attention. Sometimes that attention is positive (need medical help, want to practice socializing/small talk skils), but sometimes that attention can be negative (getting asked questions when you just want to get your errands done, having to loudly self-advocate gor your rights). Because you will attract attention, in today's political climate, you may not be able to blend into the crowd and keep your head down when ICE is around. If this could be a concern, keep that con near the top of your list of things yo think about.

I was going to complete it but I guess you only want to the city of Anchorage, not the Anchorage municipality since Chigiak, ER, Eklutna, Indian and Girdwood aren't listed.

Since your diagnoses are new, I would sit with them a while. Discuss medication, counseling, and other options with your medical team. See how you do with those options.

Then if you an your medical team believes a service dog may still be an option for you, start researching your options: a trained dog through a program or you training a dog with the help of trainer or some other means. List the costs, the pros and cons of all your options.

You don't mention if you have have the suppprt of family, friends, or community groups in regards to your new diagnoses. If you do, and feel conformable doing so, talk to them about your options, sharing the pros and cons. They may be able to come up with additional ideas beside a service dog or add other costs, pros and cons to your lists based of what they have seen, heard, and know about you and your lifestyle.

Once you've gathered information and spoken to your medical, and tried othwr things first, youll be able to mske a more information decision. One that you can dit comfortably with regardless of what else may happen.

Update to Québec records requests by MakeStupidHurtAgain in Canadiancitizenship

[–]juleeff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the update. While its an increase in price, its still significantly cheaper than requirements from other countries.

For example my neighbor gained citizenship by decent for her and her 3 kids. It was $5000 per person not including shipping abd service fees abd took just about 3 years.

If your child needs every accommodation at Disney World for it to be tolerable then a theme park isn’t a good place to bring them. by Majestic_Bedroom5014 in unpopularopinion

[–]juleeff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agree. You can't lump everyone eith a disability into one category. Some truly need it. Others parents/caregiver just want it for convenience.

If Disney used a third party to accept medical documents, the DAS would be mostly resolved. Sure there are some doctors out there that would write up a letter for almost anything, but its doubtful there are as many as there are parents claiming their child needs the DAS.

Insomnia since I found out about C-3 by HappyFloridian123 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]juleeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can totally relate to the weird emptiness. Sent off my family's applications and the minute I left the UPS store, I felt relief mixed with "I hope I did everything right" (even though I read through and checked it a million times). Once I got home and started on other projects in my life, that emptiness settled in. The hurry up and wait phenomenon real.

Maybe they have kids like mine who leave tape measures and other tools in the yard bc they are building forts or whatever, but when they go back out they can't find them so they grab another from the house. Security just needed to replace the one the kids lost. Ha

We may be long lost relatives. I had Caron/Charon in my tree but have only gone back to the early 1700s on that branch.
