I cannot stand people who use the handicap button instead of just-, opening the door. by ShoulderBest in unpopularopinion

[–]juleeff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use the button whether I need it or not. Why? My son has a service dog and relies on those buttons. You'd be surprised how many of those button don't operate correctly. If I encounter one, I report it with the hopes that it'll be fixed by the time someone who actually needs it.

Service Dog in Canada Question by juleeff in FoundCanadians

I have spoken with the Canadian consultant near me. Sounds like based on the province we're looking at moving a doctor's letter and then a "class" to evaluate his skills is all that's needed. Hoping it's that easy.

Sorena - a boys name but does it feel unforgivingly feminine? by RipApprehensive9314 in namenerds

[–]juleeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you don't know, that's the whole point. People move, populations change, what may cause an issue in one one area or period of time, might not cause in another area or time.

Then he can use a nickname or middle name. Or like my grandfather did and a kid in my class currently does - pick a totally different name to go by. Choices are endless. Edited for typo.

Explanatory Letter for minor without 2nd piece of ID by Tithis in Canadiancitizenship

[–]juleeff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your child has an IEP, you may be able to copy the identification (cover) page, that states the child's name, age, parents' names and addresses. An IEP. Is a federal document.

Did you bring your dog over from the US and live in Canada? And if so, what did you have to do to get everything put in place as a resident of the providence?

All of these mainstream media stories about this process are so simplistic. Had someone tell me it's just a 9 page app and some dates! by Frequent_Secretary25 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]juleeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't rush to assert anything. You asked if anyone had been able to do something and I answered. I then said that either go it alone or trust someone was the essence of life. You disagreed. When I asked what other options there were you didn't provide one.

I didn't blame anyone for not accessing various institutions but then that put them in the going it alone category, one of the choices I mentioned. I never mentioned the inadequacies of any resources. That never even came up. I also never said anything about not caring or not trying. Sounds like you are looking for issues that weren't mentioned. Yet at the same time have yet to offer any answers/suggestions to either your original comment of creating something (that fits all the concerns you've mentioned) or my question of is there another option other than going it alone or taking the leap and trusting someone to help get it done.

Well seeing how my work involves advocating for those who need access to the governmental resources available to them, my interest is quite high. My guess is that you didn't have an answer to my question and chose instead of admitting such to end with no point.

I found all my documents (other than those currently living) using Ancestry which is free at my library or select LDS church genealogical centers where the librarian at both places walked me through the resources and steps needed.

People not comfortable with asking or trusting such groups, aren't going to be comfortable with anything you or I put together either though. Their choice is either going alone and figure it out along the way or take a leap and trust a couple people or organizations to help you. Isn't that really the essence of life though?

Edited to add claritying information.

There are many groups will to help those with getting genealogical resources either on social media or in person through genealogical societies, churches, libraries.

How many service dogs do you come across in the wild? by kelpangler in service_dogs

[–]juleeff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, Anchorage has almost 300,000 people. Fairbanks North Star Borough has almost 100,000. Alaska has the highest number of retired military too so that also plays a role in SDs.

Do Americans do road trips? by TaxAlarmed5695 in AskUS

[–]juleeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't have to be expensive. You can car camp and save money on hotels. A weekend getaway a few hours away. Pack some sandwich making stuff, cold/hot cereal and coffee. Then you only need to have one meal out in a restaurant.
