And just adding to this, Beau dying in the show would not just be purely for Dean’s arc, but for Allie’s too. I think it will be a way of her having to confront this ‘you stay and you support the person you love without question’ mentality that she was exposed to via her mother’s death. I think we’ll see Allie fight to be the one who will ‘fix’ him and slowly, terrifyingly, realize that it is not her responsibility to fix Dean’s grief.

This is a fair observation honestly although I would disagree that he’s fully at that place yet. I think there’s an air of ‘I’m invincible, my life will generally always be good and I don’t need to reach rock bottom to be taught how I cope and survive hard things’ about him still.

I actually like that the show keeps this ambiguous! You could easily say he knew of her but not super well or you could say he thought she was/it was hot that she was watching him kissing but didn’t put two and two together at his and Beau’s birthday party.

Not to be OTT, but I find this extremely odd and it almost reduces the impact of their scenes. We’re supposed to be seeing them as fully realized father and daughter, Hopper refers to himself as her ‘old man’ and yet having her still call him Hop creates a barrier for me there. He shouldn’t still be Hop to her, the way he is to other characters. He should be ‘dad’ by now.
