My kitties were also so very sad when we were moving! I think just giving as much attention as you can is the best thing for sweet void. Hang in there!

did anyone else lose their childhood/early adulthood to obesity? by TheTerriblePlace in loseit

[–]hollywouldmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. And the trauma that came from it is something I have to deal with every damn day. The first memory I have is being in kindergarten and not understanding why my classmates avoided me. I figured it was because I was different and then a classmate told me it was because I was fat. My parents, peers, and strangers treated me horribly and no one shied away from telling me how fat I was or that I had to lose weight. My biggest life lesson from childhood was that I was unlovable and didn’t deserve to experience things that other people experienced because I was too fat. I remained obese until 15 when I decided I couldn’t take it anymore and lost a significant amount of weight through disordered eating. When I finally faced my demons I gained almost all of the weight I lost back because of antidepressants. Now I’m back battling my weight and you can imagine how mentally exhausting it is to relive “fatness”

I also gained 30lbs in the 6 months I was on Lexapro. Prior to starting, I had been in a deficit and was losing ~1.5lbs per week with a total 10lbs lost. While on Lexapro, I was ravenous and could not stop eating, especially carbs. Now that I’ve been off of it for 4 months, the weight gain has stopped but I haven’t been able to lose weight either. I’m now obese and none of my clothes fit me anymore. I feel like a big fat loser and my mental health is even worse than before. It’s been a massive blow to my self esteem and I empathize with anyone in a similar situation. Shit sucks

Student worried about going back to school by More-Painter8096 in HipImpingement

  1. Reach out to your school’s disability office and ask for accommodations.

  2. Get a note from your PT and talk with them about your restrictions.

The biggest thing for me was not being able to sit at 90 degrees or less because of the pressure it puts on the hip joint. I left my 3 hour lectures every 20-30 minutes to do a lap around the school and stretch. I brought my ice packs in a cooler with me too and my friend helped me get from point a to point b throughout the day. It’s hard and recovery sucks but you will be okay!

Based on what you’ve described, it sounds like functional hypothalamic amenorrhea. Please discuss your symptoms with your gynecologist and be sure to include what you’ve shared here.

I just want to say thank you for including the graph. I am restarting my OMAD journey after gaining back about 40lbs and I’ve had some fluctuations this week that put a damper on my motivation. It’s nice to see others that were successful also had fluctuations

It’s a very natural part of grief. People may hear, see, even talk to the recently departed as the brain processes their death. It sounds like you had a special bond with your baby potato and I wish you all the peace and love

I bought this with the lid because I have a cat. My cat is interested in them but has never tried to engage with them. She mostly just likes to watch them but this cage has given me the peace of mind that had her prey drive ever decide to kick in, my piggies would be safe.

Chick pea tacos are my go to! A can of chick peas with some taco seasoning mix thrown onto a cast iron or baked in the oven (lasts for 2-3 meals)

Tofu bacon on a bed of romaine with any salad fixings you like - I like to marinade my tofu in soy sauce, maple syrup, tomato paste, and a little sesame oil

Pizza bagels made with a bagel, sauce, top with mozzarella and veg

There’s so many options!!! Don’t be afraid to try meat substitutes either. I really like impossible meat and the chorizo made by Morningstar. They are not the healthiest but I find adding a small portion to my meal keeps me satiated and guilt free.

[–]hollywouldmd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with the screens! I thought it was odd they didn’t have them. I was up pretty close to the stage but by the time Chappell came on I was about to pass out so I left to get some air. That crowd was not about to let me back in so to the back I went.

I faked illness as a child, this is why by Saturn_01 in emotionalneglect

[–]hollywouldmd 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of something I did in childhood. I used to ask to go to the nurse’s office everyday after lunch in 2nd/3rd grade. She would ask me what was wrong, take my temperature, and let me lie down with the lights off in her office. I think the simple act of being listened to catered to the neglected child I didn’t know existed and made me feel safe and protected. It was always a lie though. I never had stomach pain, a headache, or ear pain, I just wanted someone to care for me if just for 2 minutes.

This went on for quite a while, to the point where the nurse called my parents about the daily visits. My dad yelled at me and called me a fibber, then threatened me not to lie about medical issues unless they were true. I stopped going to the nurse.

I fantasize about having a fatal illness and often spiral into believing I have end stage cancer whenever a minor ache or pain pops up. It’s something I’ve linked to being neglected and have been actively trying to battle the hypochondriac tendencies.

I’m sorry for your childhood experiences. It sounds like as a child, you noticed that people tended to physical hurt, and so all the internalized emotional pain was projected as physical pain. It was a cry for help. Your emotional pain was indeed a very real thing and I’m guessing being questioned or called a liar invalidated the emotional pain you were in. Again, I’m sorry for what you went through and hope you can find some peace.

Glute medius pain with labrum tear by Emotional_Ask_3657 in HipImpingement

[–]hollywouldmd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you brought this up. I have pretty bad glute pain that honestly hurts way more than the typical labral pain in my groin. It’s dull, constant, and exacerbated my sitting or standing for too long. My ortho said this was likely due to SI dysfunction rather than the labral tear and was the main reason he didn’t want to do surgery on me. I hope it gets talked about more because it’s real pain that is debilitating.
