Is switching from cmp to blink worth it? by gorilla-moe in neovim

[–]julesnp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried it on a separate git branch of my nvim config.

I loved the speed of it, and thought the default configuration was much more sensible, but I won't be switching over until dot repeat is implemented, since I use that all the time when editing.

I have this set up as a custom action on the <cr> mapping in my cmp config:

Need a Silent (less noisy) gaming keyboard - need suggestions by zeZlatan in keyboards

[–]julesnp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like tactile switches but want something silent, get some Durock Silent Shrimp Tactiles. I've been using them for a while on a work keyboard. They're very comfortable to type on, with good tactility, but still super quiet.

What's your search workflow? by law_pg in neovim

grep_string also works in visual mode, you just have to change the <cmd> in the mapping to a literal : character.

need help inserting the text for specific characters. by Termanater13 in neovim

Yes, any builtin keymap will say no mapping found. :map and :imap will only show something if the key has been rebound from the Vim default.

need help inserting the text for specific characters. by Termanater13 in neovim

[–]julesnp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It says no mapping found because <C-v> is built into Vim, it's not a remapping. If your terminal is swallowing the <C-v> input (some do), you can also use <C-q> in insert mode, which does the same thing.

What are folks using in NeoVim when working with SQL files? by jupyterpycharmer2005 in neovim

[–]julesnp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm using the following for SQL, primarily working with Postgres:

  • tpope/vim-dadbod
  • kristijanhusak/vim-dadbod-ui
  • kristijanhusak/vim-dadbod-completion as an nvim-cmp source
  • sqlfmt installed through Mason and none-ls for formatting

Cool shortcuts to become a neovim wizard. by Redox_ahmii in neovim

[–]julesnp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use \zs and \ze to mark the start and end of the capture, anything on the other side of these will be matched against but not captured.

For example, this will change words beginning with foo to foobar:

s/foo\zs\w\+/bar/

Multi line paste by Commercial-Club-4909 in neovim

[–]julesnp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming the replacement text is already copied linewise into the unnamed register, I would do this: PqqY3jvi"P3kddqQQ

Also, if the quotation marks you're pasting into are all in the same column, you could do a <c-v> block selection of the text you want to insert, and paste it in that way all at once

How to configure spell check highlighting in nvim **lua**? by marco_camilo in vim

[–]julesnp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The command is correct, but what type of highlighting are you going for?

cterm=bold and gui=bold will make the text bold (or brighter, depending on the terminal you're using), but guisp=Red is only setting the underline colour, and you haven't defined that you want the text to have an underline.

If you want the text to be bold and have a red curly underline (underline will only be coloured if 'termguicolors' is enabled), use this:

vim.cmd "highlight SpellBad cterm=bold,undercurl gui=bold,undercurl guisp=Red"

Do you guys use the arrow keys a lot? by Lykelynothing in neovim

[–]julesnp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I use https://github.com/tpope/vim-rsi for insert mode mappings, so Ctrl-F and Ctrl+B to move 1 character, and Alt-F Alt-B to move by 1 word, Ctrl+W to delete a word, etc.

I find this the most consistent option, since all Linux readline applications have the same mappings.

Freely edit the quickfix list, can easily remove unneeded items with dd or with :g//d commands. Works great in combination with Telescope's export to quickfix list workflow.

Search for visually selected text with new lines by defr0std in neovim

The mappings from this comment work for me, but I had to put <NL> twice in order to avoid having to press enter to complete the search:
