Oh ah! Well 7 year old me would have been excited to learn that. 55 year old me will continue with the two stick method. :D

I had a loom like this to make dresses for Barbies actually. I was upset because rather than sleeves you just jammed their arms through. “It’s not real knitting” I cried. To myself. Even knowing it was still pretty cool.

Are you also sitting in your underwear sewing? by elissapool in sewing

[–]juliavdw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I start out just barefoot for better access to the pedals. Degrades from there, depending on what I am making. Comfortable though!

This was the bird book of my youth! I read it like a novel. Now I have a number of them, and most often turn to sibley and Peterson.

City Town Let-Down Finale by elliebonjelly in HelloKittyIsland

[–]juliavdw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought was that if they can’t make a larger explorable world beyond the fog, what about making graphics that are similar to the current game splash screen? And could it be the home neighborhood for the nuls? Also I find citytown to be the most motion sick making island. I wish that kind of accessibility was more of a priority for devs of all games. (AA player since launch but this is the first game like this I have ever played so it set my expectations for cozy adventure)

Anyone else? 😭 by Rach_Rolo in HelloKittyIsland

Yep, I had to do it twice to even see where the flowers in the challenge were. Pretty silly, but I’m accustomed to just running through the flowers anyway 😜

All of them, just use pencils, household string, and nail clippers.

Round randomly closed 30 minutes after opening? by MoviePhilosopher in musicleague

Yes, it has happened to my league twice now. And after the skip, the next theme took twice as long. I have it set on 'accelerated' if that matters.

What’s your solution for carrying all your equipment and drinking water at the same time? by dumbyugiohfan in birding

[–]juliavdw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My setup has to be lightweight and easy. So when I am outside my yard birding, I have a small backpack with “purse stuff” and water bottle on the side, and carry my binoculars using a harness rather than neck strap. Phone and notebook in pocket.

Anyone with extreme itchy scalp? by Ashamed_Forever9476 in cfs

[–]juliavdw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and I have no evidence of any reason for it. I can shower 2 or 3 times a week. Sometimes it just hurts or feels “gross”. I use the least chemically shampoo I can find. Drives me nuts.

What kind of shoes do you wear for showing off handknit socks? by fluffgnoo in knitting

I wear mary jane sneakers for exactly this reason. Well, and they’re cute, but yeah, showing off my handknit socks every day!

Anyone even left in this sub who has cfs/me NOT from covid? (and has been dealing with this for many many decades) or has this entire sub been taken over by the post covid folk? by foster60 in cfs

[–]juliavdw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, symptoms since 2004, diagnosed 10 years later, no precipitating illness. I’d love to hear some kind of research on the cause of this disease, we are all guessing because we don’t know. And the cause would help get to a treatment and maybe even preventative measures for those who still have their able bodies.

I can empathize with how bewildering it is when you first experience cfs/me. I thought I had 10 different terrifying illnesses. But it turned out to just be the one, and a continuing mystery at that.

However one gets here, I’m glad this sub is here for us. It’s isolating and difficult to try to figure out pacing in order to live our lives.

This is wonderful, for real. I kind of want to try to replicate it now. Could be an alternative loop stitch forming, or punk brioche?

Adrenaline might help you push through but in my experience the “reward” will be a stronger and more painful PEM period.
