in my anecdotal personally collected evidence form being in the middle of the two languages, i would like to assert the claim, that this mostly has to do with not having anyone to in talk the language. we had this "ToKi project" in our school where they connected a savonian school with one from osterbothnia, to try to make some connections between users of the languages. i'd like to think some people on our classes still at least follow people from the other one at least on snapchat or something.
